Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Petit fleur by : D.Lindley From: GUEST,Roger the skiffler Date: 10 Jul 00 - 06:59 AM The Chris Barber Petite Fleur with clarinet solo by Monty Sunshine was an old Sidney Bechet number. I've never heard words to it so probably not the one you want. RtS |

I have spent about 1/2hr searching using Google, Yahoo and Alta Vista with no joy. My French is probably worse than yours but I even tried the French version of Alta Vista. Jon |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Petit fleur by : D.Lindley From: Jim Dixon Date: 13 Oct 10 - 01:58 PM David Lindley performed PETIT FLEUR (sic) on his album "El Rayo-X" (1981). Authorship is credited to "Feldthouse/Lindley." That would probably be David Lindley and Solomon Feldthouse, who performed together as members of Kaleidoscope. Kaleidoscope also performed PETITE FLEUR on their albums— "Incredible!" (1968; reissued 1991 and 1997). "Blues From Baghdad: The Very Best of Kaleidoscope" (1995) "Infinite Colours Infinite Patterns: The Best of Kaleidoscope" (2001). "Pulsating Dreams: The Epic Recordings" (2004) On those albums, the songwriting credit varies, but it always seems to be various band members. I listened to some samples, but I was unable to understand any significant amount of the lyrics. (I am not that fluent in French.) The style is a Cajun waltz. You can hear Kaleidoscope's recording of PETITE FLEUR on YouTube. According to orthodox French grammar, the spelling should be PETITE FLEUR, that is, feminine. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Petit fleur by : D.Lindley From: Leadfingers Date: 13 Oct 10 - 03:29 PM The Sidney Bechet 'Petite Fleur' is efinately a different melody to the French / Cajun 'Petite Fleur' |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Petite Fleur (Kaleidoscope) From: GUEST,Oakjoan Date: 16 Apr 12 - 05:22 PM I love the David Lindley Petit Fleur. My favorite line is The pig isn't me (Le cochon ne c'est moi) pretty garbled grammar, but a lovely song. |
