Howdy, all. I'm looking for lyrics, or any reference, actually, to an old song heard once, long ago, on a backwoods hillbilly radio station. The chorus went something like: "Shoot 'im high, Pa, we need his britches. Shoot 'im high, Pa we need his shoes. "Shoot 'im high, Pa, we need his britches. He's a revenuer, and he's bound to lose. Anybody remember it?

I don't remember it myself. But I did some checking. Apparently it is a recording by Rex Allen (Not Junior) on RCA. Hope that helps.

Oh, and the title was Shoot Him High. I can't seem to locate the lyrics online, so, hopefully you can check an old records store for it.

I'll ask my wife...she knows THIS one

"Slap her down agin, Paw, slap her down agin
Make her tell us more, Paw..tell us where she's been.
We don't want our neighbors talkin' 'bout our kin
So slap her down agin, Paw, slap her down agin."

Ah, the lovely family values immortalized in those gentle hillbilly folksongs...

We had it on a 78. Daddy probably still does have it, somewhere. Granddad managed a radio station way back when, that folded.

There's a recording of it by Rosalie Allen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AN_KtOH2mm4

Anybody have time to transcribe it?

-Joe-
