having spent most of the afternoon at the Harlequin (Sheffield)yesterday I still cannot put many more names to faces
If you were there could you identify yourself or help me work out who all the main characters who frequent the place are
Louise and myself were sat out in the yard for the first four hours next to the mixing desk
Roger

we got there early to see the clog dancing
about eight and a half hours later a little the worse for wear we left
no sign of clogs or dancing
had a wonderful time and one too many whiskeys

I was helping Linda in the Kitchen when the food was being set out - I washed many a dirty plate, but as the kitchen backs onto the yard I was accompanied by some great sounds. I managed to stay awake until about 1.30am and then I went to bed. It was a supurb day/night, but too cold to wear the t-shirt. I wish I could get the words to the song that Martin Braggard sang "billy no mates" I had a smashing time and cant wait for the next time.

must have seen you Patrish
Where did you go after the washing up
We ended up in the room where everyone else was taking turns singing
Except us
Never thought about singing before but I might try it next time

feeling bad now as I didn't contribute much - no singing, music or washing up
where were the clog dancers?

Roger

I was in the room too, sat next to Jim MacDonald and opposite Sue(of the deep gravely voice)I didn't sing but joined in some tunes with Mike Wild on my melodeon.

I was there between 4.15 and 4.45, in between ferrying my daughter to choir as usual. Heard a Welshman doing a "talking motorcycle blues" and an aging Gene Vincent doing a spiritual (ish), then had to go. I enquired of a group playing pipes in the first room on the right as I entered if anyone knew a "Roger from Sheffield of the Mudcat", but drew a blank. Sorry, Roger.

Anyway, glad you enjoyed the day.

Bald Eagle ,must have seen you too. Heard the Motorcycle song
The man in the first room trying to get people to buy his wares was Brian Howard
Who is best avoided unless you want to end up taking home a newly purchased set of pipes , bodhran or Low Tin Whistle
Patrish the melodeon rings a bell !!
Me and Louise were in the corner next to Mike Wild
not sure I would recognise you again as the whiskey haze had settled by that time
My visits to the Harlequin are usually Monday nights when no one else is around
So that's why I don't know who most of the people there are
Though last week met Martin, Gary and the Monday night regulars Shaun (Sean?) and Mike Wild

Mudcat T-shirts??
Where can I download one ?
Roger

Ah At last a chance to put my new found knowledge into practice. I will try, without the aid of a net, to link you to Brian Howard's Web page. Here goes :- Brian Howard's Page.

Now lets check whether that worked.

YES - a simple triumph in the midst of so much that isn't working yet.

Roger - I must have been sitting next to you but one. I was in a sort of beer fog - quite a pleasant fog though. I try to go to the Harlequin on a sunday afternoon, there is someone there who plays a double bass - sounds great.
