Subject: RE: Ramblin' Jack pics From: GUEST,Jon Date: 27 Apr 03 - 12:10 AM Blimey, that's twice this week things I'd put up have been reported as missing... I'm afraid that "tripod" site dissapeared without warning and I have no copies of anything like Kendall's pictures or MIDIs I may have put up there to link to from Mudcat. I'd realy only considered it as a site for "things for the moment". Hopefully Kendall will be able to assist. |
Subject: RE: Ramblin' Jack pics From: catspaw49 Date: 26 Apr 03 - 11:27 PM Amos....I've seen it a couple of times and there's a lot to learn in there isn't there. Everybody makes choices....... I loved Arlo's comments......She also got lots of good stories and music out of him for it, but sadly not much for her. A difficult shell........ Spaw |
Subject: RE: Ramblin' Jack pics From: SINSULL Date: 26 Apr 03 - 11:14 PM Amos - go up to Quicklinks, choose Members' Photos, then Photos. One of the pictures is shown in Kendall's group. |
Subject: RE: Ramblin' Jack pics From: Amos Date: 26 Apr 03 - 11:07 PM Dang!! Those pictures are gone when I finally got around to kooking at 'em!! :>) Seriously, if they are recoverable, i'd like to see them on the Mudcat Photos site. Jon, can you still find them? Or Kendall? I just finished viewing a terrific DVD on the life of Rambling Jack, from when he first ran away from home in Brooklyn to the point where Clinton hung a National merit award around his neck at thr White House. The DVD was produced and mostly filmed by his daughter Ayana, who had made a sort of major quest in her life to find out who the fuck this guy really was and what he really thought. Seems he wasn't much of a communicator, parentally. The DVD is rich with pics and dialogue -- the Village scene in the late 50's, Arlo, Bobbie Dylan as a sprout, Pete, Dave van Ronk, Odetta, and a bunch of others. Highly recommended fare -- it really brought me back to the Era. And it reminded me why I am glad I didn't try to earn my living singing. It apparently won the Sundance Festival in 2000 so I guess its been around a while -- apologies if this has all been covered before. A |

Subject: RE: Ramblin' Jack pics From: bbelle Date: 11 Jul 00 - 10:50 PM Good Pix! kendall ... you don't look like a fat, old man! But I do like you better with your hat... just a personal preferance thing. As for compulsive posting and refreshing ... sometimes good threads get pushed off the page by threads that are 100+ posts long and the only thing to do is to start "refreshing." moonchild |

Subject: RE: Ramblin' Jack pics From: catspaw49 Date: 11 Jul 00 - 03:04 PM I dunno guys.....Threads are hard to get a "read" on sometimes. Some of us are "commenters" and others aren't. A refresh on your part sometimes seems embarassing or silly or vain or whatever, but often people look at a thread and let it pass even if they like it. I have received a bunch of correspondence from people who saw the "Donation to Mudcat" thread, but didn't post to it. Sometimes we get accused of "compulsive" posting when all we are doing is keeping a thread at the top so others like those I mention can see it. I wish at times that folks would just refresh a thread that's interesting even if they themselves have no comment on it. I've done it myself because I get too much flak for refreshing things with "compulsive" posting. Spaw |
