Subject: Isn't it time to stop this? From: Scabby Douglas Date: 14 Jul 00 - 04:14 PM Unless I'm mistaken, someone ( I wonder who it could be?)is refreshing all the Orange threads he can find and floating them to the top... I know the arguments for and against censorship.. but this is abuse of the forum, isn't it?

Subject: RE: BS: Isn't it time to stop this? From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 14 Jul 00 - 04:17 PM The best way to stop it is to ignore it, ignore it, ignore it. If no one posts to a thread, the thread will go away. |

Subject: RE: BS: Isn't it time to stop this? From: Scabby Douglas Date: 14 Jul 00 - 04:25 PM Problem is.. we all at some time take the bait... I have avoided it maybe because I'm from Glasgow and it's a subject you *do* avoid in "mixed" company unless you really DO want to get into a very real fight. It's too easy and safe for people like that - it's like sending a posion pen letter with the added thrill of not even having to hide... I don't mind people having pet hates or hobby horses, but I really object to this crap being peddled in this forum. Cheers All

Subject: RE: BS: Isn't it time to stop this? From: catspaw49 Date: 14 Jul 00 - 04:26 PM Doug.......In truth, if you read them, there is some excellent postings and info in those threads. Even some of our staunchest green folks have brought valuable info into them. Now as to "WHY"............Well, we all know that Bloody Conrad, #1 Super Pissant is all for raising a ruckus and you'll notice his blatant advertizing for his site so that we may all be blessed with his version of the truth. Reality is, its an open forum and we allow pissants of all types to be here and most of us would have it no other way. Conrad is unlikely to change any minds and there isn't really any abuse in rehashing old threads. Now if the thread in question is one particular one.....well no, not even then.....its all part of the same freedom. Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: Isn't it time to stop this? From: Jon Freeman Date: 14 Jul 00 - 04:27 PM I agree Animaterra but this time, it looks a little different. I have seen 5 threads today made by Conrad Bladey with this same message: "To learn the truth about the orange order go here -a comprehensive survey concerning tradition and celebration and song http://www.bcpl.net/~cbladey/orange.html" This seems to me to be the Mudcat equivilant of spamming and I wish he would stop. Subject: RE: BS: Isn't it time to stop this? From: radriano Date: 14 Jul 00 - 04:29 PM As someone else mentioned, ignore the thread and it will die. That being said, don't forget that we enjoy freedom of speech. There are other types of threads that I have no use for but others seem to enjoy. I'm talking about the best songs, best singer, best blues, best this, best that threads. I'd rather not pigeon hole everything like that. After all, one person's best might not be the next person's. But some people find it interesting so I just don't look at those threads. C'mon, people, there's always going to be someone out there with a chip on his or her shoulder. Let's move on with our lives. If you don't like the program, change the channel! Radriano |

Subject: RE: BS: Isn't it time to stop this? From: GUEST Date: 14 Jul 00 - 05:27 PM This guy Conrad is EVERYWHERE !
Has he a life?
He, of course, has won again. Another idiot (me) that he has succeeded in provoking into a response.
These guys live for that reaction.
Is the Orange Order the only organisation that is invented to look backwards with no present or future.
I am ashamed I have responded, so for the first time, I post anonymously

Subject: RE: BS: Isn't it time to stop this? From: paddymac Date: 14 Jul 00 - 05:36 PM Wonder if Conrad Badmouth would object to an ardent republican thread, etc, at his site? |

Subject: RE: BS: Isn't it time to stop this? From: GUEST Date: 14 Jul 00 - 05:43 PM He's not everywhere. He was banned from the IRTRAD-L list about 2 years ago. |

Subject: RE: BS: Isn't it time to stop this? From: InOBU Date: 14 Jul 00 - 06:29 PM Scabby old Skin: Just because it is not safe to be a rangers or celtic's fan in Glasgow, does not mean that the rest of the world takes free speach for granted and throw bricks from behind walls. I for one have stood facing guns in the hands of young kids frim Glasgow who were victems of the draft (conscription) of poverty in the mid nineteen seventies. Our folk traditions are rooted in many things including the important issues of the day. I don't completely fault Conrad for his posts or his ignorence. Better we reach truth and reconcilliation through getting to know each other, eh? Let's all sing Jamie Foyers and have a nice evening. ALl the best Scabby Doug. Larry |

Subject: RE: BS: Isn't it time to stop this? From: SINSULL Date: 14 Jul 00 - 08:33 PM I am thinking of re-introducing prohibition. Should I start with the Song Challenge or post Lyric Request: Father Dear Father? Or cover both and the Auction with a bottle of white Grape Juice? |
