I have had some requests for real traditional English (lively/happy)folk songs such as The Ploughboy from Suffolk the type that is passed down through the families by oral tradition of old (and never written down or recorded) does anyone have a source of these PLEASE? I'm talking of songs of the 1800 upwards All contributions gratefully recieved to keep these songs alive. Thanks in advance Alimouse

You can't go wrong with the Copper Family. (The link is to song index.)

You might want to send a personal message to Dave Swan using the links at the top of the page. He sings in a group that specializes in this music. The recently opened for the Coppers. I am sure he can help.

Mick

If they weren't written down or recorded, how do you tell if they're either old or traditional?
