Subject: RE: BBC Radio3 Eliza Carhty/WOMAD From: Lena Date: 18 Jul 00 - 10:30 AM Some friends are performing at the WOMAD festival-they're called MARA!,a unique band from Australia. Two of them, the guitar player and the singer, come from a folk(a very solid one...)and renaissance music background, the others are jazz musicians. They usually perform bulgarian/eastern Euro music, but their british/celtic/breton repertoire is really interesting, with unknown tunes and so on. I find them superbe. As I'll never get a chance to see the BBC broadcasting(wrong side of the planet...),please let me know if you've seen them and what do you think. (Also let me know if I should start a specifical"WOMAD"thread for it...) |
