Subject: Lyr Add: THE BIG CORRAL From: GUEST,Sluefoot Sue Date: 17 Jul 00 - 07:55 PM Here is a great cowboy tune I couldn't find in the DT: THE BIG CORRAL That ugly brute from the cattle chute, Press along to the Big Corral. He should be branded on the snoot, Press along to the Big Corral. CHORUS: Press along cowboy, Press along with a cowboy yell. Press along with a noise, a big noise, Press along to the Big Corral. Early in the morning 'bout half-past four, Press along to the Big Corral. You'll hear him open his face to roar, Press along to the Big Corral. CHORUS The wrangler's out a combing the hills, Press along to the Big Corral. So jump in your britches and grease up your gills, Press along to the Big Corral. CHORUS The chuck we get ain't fit to eat, Press along to the Big Corral. There's rocks in the beans and sand in the meat, Press along to the Big Corral. CHORUS That ugly gink is a half-breek Chink, Press along to the Big Corral. He makes our biscuits in the sink, Press along to the Big Corral. CHORUS From the book "He Was Singing This Song by Jim Bob Tinsley pp. 140 A collection of forty-eight traditional songs of the American Cowboy, with words, music, pictures, and stories. ^^ |

Subject: Lyr Add: PRESS ALONG TO GLORY LAND From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 25 Jun 04 - 11:07 PM Lowdermilk based his song on the gospel hymn, Lyr. Add: PRESS ALONG TO GLORY LAND by Emmett Sidney Dean, 1876-1951 (version by Rowe and Dean) O ransomed souls, with joyous song, Press along to Glory-land; Extolling grace that saves the race, Press along to glory-land. Press along, glad soul, press along, Giving out the message grand; Letting love, God's love, be your song, Press along to glory-land. Anyone have this gospel hymn in their collection? Don't know if these are Dean's original words. The song "The Big Corral" is based on this gospel hymn. |
