Subject: The BISKIT Is Out There From: wysiwyg Date: 21 Jul 00 - 12:32 PM Today is the day, Mudcateers, and we hope you cheer us on in our mission. Our mission (no thread creep, it ain't an Impossible one) is to locate BISKIT somehwere along Route 17 near Waverly NY. He sez this will be his first live, in-the-flesh Encounter of the Mudcat kind. (We really should have a thread explaining the degrees of Mudcat encounters, starting with lurking and going as far as we can imagine!) We of course are privileged. Joining me on this adventure will be Hardiman the Fiddler, of course, and our 17 year old daughter who, altho not a Mudcat member, is well known to some of you as Lemur or Artsy D. Cases in hand and ready to have fun, we leave at 1:30 Cat Time-- in search of knickers! Biskit sez he's pretty ripe from the road. No prob. Rain is due in his area of approach, and so I told him, hang a dirty pair now, and they will be clean and possibly dry in time for us to see the display! Who will fetch him next and do some laundry for him? I am sure he will post his route. We will send him on as sweet as we can! Of course we are taking cameras! ~S~ |

Subject: RE: BS: The BISKIT Is Out There From: wysiwyg Date: 21 Jul 00 - 01:18 PM GUEST-- He's always there, silly! Biskit is a Mudcat member who is a long-distance trucker. Do a search on his name for details. Knickers are involved in some cases. Ooops, I dunno if you can if not a member. It's OK. You'll figger it out. ~S~ |

Subject: RE: BS: The BISKIT Is Out There From: SINSULL Date: 21 Jul 00 - 04:06 PM Gee Praise, I'm confused too. You're going out to save BISKIT and wash his laundry? Reminds me of the old TV show - "This is a job for Superman..." Have fun. |

Subject: RE: BS: The BISKIT Is Out There From: Sorcha Date: 21 Jul 00 - 06:01 PM She isn't going to SAVE BISKIT, good grief people. She is gonna run his knickers up a flagpole! Clean or Dirty!! LOL. And secure them with a monkey's tail!! It is doubtful Guest, that Jesus will fill you in on any details of Praise/Hardiman/BISKIT's personal relationship. He notorious for keeping confidences............ |

Subject: RE: BS: The BISKIT Is Out There From: catspaw49 Date: 21 Jul 00 - 06:27 PM Actually, I hate to be a fifth wheel here, but I thought Praise was going just to check out his 'Cummins' and Hardi was going to get his whole 'Peterbilt'......Or maybe they're all gonna' play with Biskit's 'road ranger.' I could be wrong and maybe Biskit has a 'Silver 92.' You girls gettin' jealous yet? |

Subject: RE: BS: The BISKIT Is Out There From: wysiwyg Date: 21 Jul 00 - 09:22 PM Well we did meet up with Biskit (who did not need saving at all) and had us a fine visit over a late lunch. We then proceeded out to see Old Pete (his rig) where we swapped tuunes, danced a bit, and sang our hearts out as trucks whizzed in and out. We had such a great time that we got back home a half hour late for our monthly jam! It was OK, tho-- the rest of the Good News-Goodtime Band was ensconced on our porch, waiting for us! Biskit sez he sends his love to all and he will post his report as soon as he can. ~S~ |

Subject: RE: BS: The BISKIT Is Out There From: wysiwyg Date: 21 Jul 00 - 10:03 PM The secret to making this happen was being willing to go find where Biskit was-- linking up the night beofre by phone and again this morning to determine where/when... and then it realaly helped that I had a pager he could use, once he had landed, cuz whewre he ended up was a little off of the directions we had both had. It was well worth the effort on our part, I can tell you, to make the thing work on his terms. He was abe to spend three whole hours with us instead of spending it finding us. By starting the process in PM's we were able to convince him we really would spend an hour or more driving to link up with him. Well worth it. ~S~ |

Subject: RE: BS: The BISKIT Is Out There From: Biskit Date: 23 Jul 00 - 02:03 PM Well finally! here I am In the GREAT METROPOLIS of Oakdale,Wi.securely parked an' plugged in to a landline. As Praise mentioned, we met @Waverly,Ny or actually a bit west of there,(thank goodness for pagers!)It was rainin' cats, dogs and possibly an O'Possum or two,but by the time that we had finished our most excellent lunch,(made even better by the company) and had hit the highlights of our lives up to that point, the sun had returned and it once again had become a lovely summer day.We then proceeded to get our instruments, take a few pictures, and finally got down to the buisness of makin' a lil' music. It was wondereful!I stumbled through a few songs,(it had been awhile since I had played) then did my best to join Hardiman the Fiddler in a couple of Irish jigs. Then Hardiman did a couple by hisself whilst The ladies honered me by dancin' and spinnin' roun' an' roun' wi' me while Hardiman the Fiddler played songs that woulda brung a smile to anyones face! Now then here I sit,908 miles an' a day an' a half later wishin' they'da come wit' me, for there are five nice shade trees next to me and a gentle wind. If I'm really quiet for a minute maybe I'll hear Hardimans fiddle playin' on the breeze....-X- -Biskit- |

Subject: RE: BS: The BISKIT Is Out There From: wysiwyg Date: 23 Jul 00 - 04:14 PM flattop, Your remark calls for some sort of paradigm shift somewhere. Either your concept of sainthood, or of me, or both, need some adjustment. Perhaps an ad line for saints might read, "Saints have more fun than blondes." Must be them there joybells ringing down in my heart. (Bein' a Christian is so serious it cracks me up.) Biskit, you left out that you began with a song you had WRITTEN. 'Fess up now boy. You promised me you would tape it. Post the lyrics here now, like a dear. ~S~

Subject: RE: BS: The BISKIT Is Out There From: Biskit Date: 24 Jul 00 - 04:43 PM Chorus:>Tell me the old old story `bout Jesus and his glory,`bout how he died on Cavelry, and with his blood he set me free. Now listen closely sweet friends of mine,`bout how he turned that water to wine, and when he made the blind man see,he'll do the same for you an' me. Repeat Chorus,#2 He made his deciples, fishers of men,and without a net they`d draw them in. From miles around they came to hear from the son of God,and they`d all draw near. Repeat Chorus,#3Now what they heard from his sweet voice, was brother simply they had a choice, they could go along in their wicked ways,Oh those lonely nights and those lonelier days or choose his path,of love an' kindness and like the man he healed from blindness they'll see the light and remember the day,Praisin' Jesus all the way.Repeat Chorus twice and fade.4/4 time Kinda country rock feeling/G,C,D progression |

Subject: RE: BS: The BISKIT Is Out There From: wysiwyg Date: 24 Jul 00 - 05:00 PM It has the prettiest harmonies possible, it sings like breathing, it moves along in a lovely way, and it seemed easy to play too. I think that is right that the last two verses run together, I can't recall if there was a bridge, just the last two running together with a sort of powering-up of the dynamics and rhythm. But Biskit, I lost the melody. If you cannot tape it, please set up a time to call me up to sing it and I will try to tape it enough to learn it and maybe write it out in notes. Amd you can (PLEASE) come sing it next time you are in the area, plan on passing thru in time for a Sat. nite service! ~S~ |
