A most excellent HearMe. Good music..good cameraderie, what more could anyone want. I sang Yankee Lady, Here in California, Whipporwill Blues by Peggy Ayres and Dan Berggren (from their CD Cloudsplitter), Mamma Fried,(written by midchuck and his wife), and Whoever Said it Would be Eazy, by Vt songwriter Dick McCormack. Then I crashed and burned on another of his songs, Voices in the Hills, which I will do another time. Sandy

During my brief encounter with hearme last night, my two-pennyworth comprised "Painting Box" by the Incredible String Band and "I Live Not Where I Love".

I say night, because it was nearly midnight here before things got going, and I had to get up this morning.

Good HearMe! I sang my first ever song on HearMe. As I don't know the proper title, having heard Mike Cross do it live, I call it "A Good Excuse", about a bricklayer who doesn't realize that a "barrel full of building bricks was heavier than me". (If anyone knows the credits or history of this song, I'd be grateful if you'd let me know).

I enjoyed everyones tunes a lot, and I'll figure out something for the F9 key, so I can also play an instrument. I don't know too many A Capella tunes. Thanks, everyone. BlueJay

Thanks Bluej! The song is called "The Sick Note" or "Why Paddy's Not At Work Today" or "The Bricklayer's Song". It is indeed a classic, and we've had many threads on it. Just type one of it's names (above) in the Superseach and I'm sure you'll find all then info you want on in. But if you want some fresh and new opinions, start a new thread on it by all means, and watch all your questions become answered in record time!

And it's also under the Excuse Note in the DT, if I remember rightly. Blue Jay you sounded great. I have a question for you, though: what qualifies a song as only a capella? Everything I sing is a capella as I don't play any accompanying instruments. I am just curious, not meaning to be critical. Just want you to know that, in HearMe, at least, there are several of us who sing sans any instruments and you should feel comfy doing so, too. On the other hand, it is also very wonderful to hear those who play and sing at the same time, so I look forward to you getting a lock on that button!*BG*

Thanks, Kat. I guess there's really nothing that makes a song be A Capella, but I'm no expert. I guess it's just how you do it at the time. I learned that song for voice only, so that's how I do it. Probably plenty of other folks have added instruments. And Mbo, thanks for the info. I'll check around the threads.
