Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Mission Hall (Peter Livingstone) From: weerover Date: 14 Dec 23 - 05:04 AM You are welcome, GerryM. There are many more examples of slang terms specific to Scotland (particularly the greater Glasgow area). It is a fine song - I have both Tonight At Noon's and Mick West's versions on CD and enjoy listening to both frequently. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Mission Hall (Peter Livingstone) From: Tattie Bogle Date: 07 Nov 17 - 02:00 PM Anna Massie: bit more than a flatpicker. Very talented multi-instrumentalist - guitar, banjo, mandolin and fiddle. Plays with "Blazin' Fiddles". Brilliant actress too, as seen at the annual "Blazin' in Beauly" course week during the band's cabaret stage night! And yes, love "The Mission Hall" song. You could do it with just 3 chords, but more interesting with a couple of minors thrown in. e.g G, C, D + Am, Em. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Mission Hall (Peter Livingstone) From: GUEST,Paul Gottlieb Date: 07 Nov 17 - 12:24 AM There's a lovely version of this on the album "Glad Company" by the Anna Massie Band. If you're not familiar with Anna, she's an awesome Scottish flat picker |
