What about some love songs per se, like "My Love is like a Red Red Rose", etc.??

There are about 8 verses to the "Water is Wide", Four of them would make a good song for a wedding. The rest are not appropriate.

" I once loo'ed a Lass" but wasn't "she gone tae be wad tae anither"? I sang Bound tae be a row at my wedding. Still the Cruel Mither at a christening would be far worse.

There were several threads on Wedding songs, and in the DT, Wedding is a major category.

Here are three of the threads

Wedding Songs
Wedding Songs to make you cry
Celtic Wedding Songs

Nick Apollonio, (great luthier) sang Jock 'o' Hazeldean at my wedding. (The song lasted almost as long as the marriage)

"Haste to the Wedding" in DT is an English song, but the tune is either Scots (Small Pin Cushion), or Irish (Carrickfergus)

Mel Bay (who else) has a fabulous book on Scottish Folk music...it should be in the same dept of your local store as the British Isles book, and Irish folk music book. Good luck!

Fy let us all to the wedding = The Blithsome Bridal = The Scotch Wedding. The 17th century broadside ballad "The Scottish Contract" (to the same tune), in the Scarce Songs 1 file on my website, is a long early version of it. (ABCs of several versions of the tune are also given). www.erols.com/olsonw

I'm going to be doing guitar accompaniment for my fiddle teacher (a most wonderful musician) at an upcoming wedding. The two getting married both have strong Scottish heritage (as do both myself and the teacher), and have requested several vocals to which they could dance. I love to vocalize and eagerly look forward to the opportunity, but the only song I can think of is Mairi"s Wedding. Does anyone know a waltz in this genre? Any suggestions will be welcome. Thanks, y'all!
