I am sooooo tired of not being able to log onto your sight.....I try several times a day, and for days it seems that your server is down. Check with your admin and ask him or her why this is happening. You are paying good money for service that is less than adequate.

We know all this. As I explained in another thread, the technology we use to pull all this off is not available anywhere else on the net. We host it ourselves with what means we have. Our ISP sucks and so does Bell Atlantic. The cost to switch will cost us upwards of $10,000. We are planning a fund raiser to help soften the blow. If your that frustrated can you imagine how we feel.

Max, I didn't realize the cost was so high. Perhaps you could look into getting sponsors (advertisers) to help pay the cost of the service. After all, all you have to do is show them your hit numbers and those are all you need to prove this is a well-visited site by loyal people. Bell Atlantic is the ruination of Internet and phone service in general. They have just merged with NYNEX and we here in upstate NY are holding our breath for the disasters coming our way. I am certainly willing to solicit ads from different businesses who would surely benefit from exposure on your site. Just let me know. I want to help. I enjoy this site too much to stay inactive about it.

I rarely have trouble connecting to the site, although the first page (www.deltablues.com) sometimes takes a few minutes to load. Just thought you'd like to know.

i also find it's relatively easy to log onto the site, but do see delays occasionally. and there are times when i get the inevitable access time out and the "server not available" message. but by and large, it's painless, and given the value when i'm here, it's worth waiting for. thanks to everyone for a great site! and for great information and assistance!

Geez Max,

Sell me a T-shirt or something. Heck, last time I was in the Ozarks I paid real American money for a thumb-twiddler!!! I can't be the last sucker left in the U.S.A. Sorry, I know the solutions sound easier than the realities, but I suspect there is a lot of money sitting out here if you just open up a mailbox for donations..

I like the discussion group. Since I noticed it last week, I've had trouble getting onto the site. Some suggestions are:

-set the default # days of threads to 3 or 7 instead of 30 days (I seem to remember 3 days as being the default the first time I visited).

-state frequently that the database is only 5 MB. I would have downloaded it right away if I'd realized it was so small.

-set up a bi-monthly or so update package so people can update their copies of the database instead of downloading the whole thing again.

I only know of three GREAT sites on the net: Digital Tradition, NONAGs (no nags shareware and freeware) and OLGA. Nuff said.

Regarding money from ads, the ads at NONAGs never bother me. There's only one (on the main page), and I generally don't see it because I leave "images" to "only as demanded". Of course, it would probably be a good idea not to have ads on the actual page from which database searches are made -- don't want anyone to claim you're selling lyrics.

Hi Max

What's going on with the updating of the threads? I was having trouble when I connected with the site because the 30 days one hasn't been updated since 27/7 according to my computer, but then when I went onto 7 days it was updated. On the advice of a friend I changed my bookmark to the 7 days, but now I'm having the same problem with it.

Is this normal? I don't remember having this problem before. It always used to update itself.

If you can't get on, and it is important to you, then log in after 11:00 pm EDT. You can always get through and you don't need to worry about speed or insomnia.
