Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: Matt Woodbury/Mimosa Date: 21 Sep 00 - 10:53 AM Jed, I get tickled every time I look at the first post on this thread and see "I expect this to be a short lived thread..."
We had a really nice time last evening, and Branwen got to sing lots and sight read in public. Pretty impressive. I did miss the rest of the 'Catters, though.
Does anyone know how to do a blue clicky and start a new thread? This one's getting kind of long. Mimosa |
Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: Wesley S Date: 21 Sep 00 - 09:49 AM Yes you can get tickets at the door but I think they're 3 bucks extra. I'm not sure if you can reserve them at the lower price if you call early but I think you can get them held at a "will call". Wesley Hall is named after the founder of Methodism John Wesley. When I first started attending there I thought it was odd that everyone remembered my name so well. |
Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: JedMarum Date: 21 Sep 00 - 09:43 AM Wesley - I presume you can tix at the door? Did they recently rename the hall, in honor, perhaps, of the twins' Dad? If my wife and I can make it, I will bring a CD. Thanks! |
Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: Wesley S Date: 21 Sep 00 - 09:13 AM The Livingston Taylor concert is this Friday night the 22nd. The doors open at 6:30 and it's general admission. Tickets are $15.00 through the church at 817-336-7277. The location is First United Methodist Church of Ft Worth located at 800 West 5th St in downtown Ft Worth. It's at the corner of Henderson and 5th Street. The fact that the concert is being held in Wesley Hall is strictly a coincidence. Our group The Crossroad Singers will open the show. Another singer will follow and then Livingston Taylor will perform. Jed if you make it to the show please bring a CD and I'll make sure the promoter gets a copy. He's looking for local acts to open shows and he has some good ones coming up. If other Mudcatters need any more details feel free to PM me. |

Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: Matt Woodbury/Mimosa Date: 20 Sep 00 - 05:23 PM I was thinking of staying home tonight, but I guess I can put in a little time there. I'm as worried about keeping myself out of trouble as I am about Branwen. I'll miss you folks.
Jed, did I do something to offend you? Are you avoiding me? (G) Mimosa |
Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: Jed at Work Date: 20 Sep 00 - 04:20 PM Wesley - can you please post the facts about the Liv Taylor show. I am sure some of us would like to make it, if possible. |

Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: Wesley S Date: 20 Sep 00 - 04:08 PM I won't be able to make it either. We have a big show this Friday night opening for Livingston Taylor { shameless plug } that I need to prepare for. If the bouzouki player shows up please make him feel welcome and tell him I'll see him there the next time. Take care. |

Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: JedMarum Date: 20 Sep 00 - 09:57 AM I am very sorry to say, y'all that I will not be able to make the session tonight. In fact, none of the Eammons Kitchen folks will be ble to make it out. We've had a very busy schedule of late, and we just cannot manage the jam tonight. I hate to miss, but I know y'all will have a hell of a time anyway and we'll be back at the next one. ... and remember, the bar staff says only twice for Roddy Mc Corely! |

Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: Branwen23 Date: 14 Sep 00 - 11:08 PM It actually turned out to be a great time. I don't make the best hostess in the world, but it was easy to have a good time in such wonderful company. I'm very much looking forward to seeing you when you pass this way again, Fortunato. -Branwen- |
Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: GUEST,Fortunato Date: 14 Sep 00 - 10:46 PM Jed I understand, it took me nearly an hour to find that one little sign that said HARP. I passed it a least once, got directions from 25 people (and they say men don't ask) but I couldn't give up when you guys were all coming. Branwen and Wesley were great. Wesley hung out to make me feel at home and the Branwen took over. She made them turn off the juke and rounded up some 'volunteers'. and then she sang. good voice good tunes. good beer lovely company. I'm sorry you weren't there, Jed. I'll be back down next month, on the right wednesday I hope. Branwen, thanks again, you made me feel welcome, now of course I miss you, so I'll be back soon. chance/fortunato |
Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: Jed at Work Date: 14 Sep 00 - 12:34 PM LOL, MBO - we'd love to have ya out here!! Just come on. But, don't ask me for directions!! Branwen I thought about just going to YOBB, but figured you'd be leaving Mat's show at 930 and wouldn'tget there 'til late, if indeed ya went at all ... I did well to go home, anyway - started work on a new tune, and have somethings I like form it, so maybe the gods of fortune were smiling on me, and not just torturing me! See ya next week. Fortunato I hope you'll get back our way soon! |
Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: guinnesschik Date: 14 Sep 00 - 12:33 PM Mbo: You need to come down to Texas. It's a fun jam, great folks, good music, and the best British-style pub Dallas/Fort Worth has to offer. If ya' ever get down this way, let us know! Jed, I am so glad I didn't go and hitch a ride with you! |

Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: Branwen23 Date: 14 Sep 00 - 12:23 PM That's okay Jed... truth be told, I was starting to worry about you. I didn't even try to follow the directions on Excite.... when I asked it for driving directions instead of a map, it told me that the starting and ending addresses I'd entered did not exist. So I just called the number that Mimosa gave and got directions. Mimosa's show was great, beautiful harp and singing. He has such a great voice, and a great sense of humor. We were only able tostay for the first half, since neither Fortunato nor I had any idea of how to get to YOBB from Harps of Avalon, so Wesley led us out, and he had to go after the first half. But what I saw was wonderful; wish I could have stayed for the rest. At any rate, I'm glad to hear that you just had bad directions, Jed, and that you're safe and sound. We began to worry about you when ten-thirty rolled around and you still hadn't shown up at YOBB.... It was a quiet evening, Nick told us he didn't mind if we did a few tunes a capella, which we managed to do. Many thanks to Nick for his patience with us on an off week. He had no idea that anyone was planning on coming this week, and was very kind and accomodating. It was a good time, and we'll hope that when Fortunato comes back this way, he'll happen to be here on the right week for an all out jam session. I'll definitely see you all next week, though I may be arriving rather late... have to work late. See you! -Branwen- |
Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: Jed at Work Date: 14 Sep 00 - 12:02 PM I have to laugh; Fortunato came half way across the country to a strange city and found the place no probs ... and me, with best info technology can provide get lost in my own G*d-damn town!! chuckle ... it's kinda hard to believe! |
Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: Jed at Work Date: 14 Sep 00 - 11:59 AM Well, Branwen, I can't imagine that Fortunato would complain about havin' you all to himself!! And I'm gald ya had a good time ... 'cause if the truth be told whilst y'all were partying I was havin' the nightmare from hell tryin' to find ya!!! I sometimes find my own stupidity hard to bear! I got the directions from above, crossed checked the tel no and the addr with the Excite driving directions, left a few minutes early, so I'd have time to reslove any 'wrong turn' issues and still get there in time. And sure enough, at 7:20 I arrived at the destination my directions sent me to ... trouble is is wasn't the right place!! Not to worry, I had time, and the tel no .... so I drove a few ever enlarging circles, still never found the place ... so at 7:30 I called ... gotta machine ... dove a bit more ... called again, got a fax-machine ... drove a bit more ... called again, spoke to a mna who seemed to know where I was, gave me a few pointers, but my cell phone cut out ... still I had enough to try again ... drove around and around and around ... ran outta gas, filled her up, called again ... got cut off again ... called Sprint and cancelled my service on the spot ... drove home! I was hovering in the neighborhood for almost 90 minutes ... I decided the gods of fortune had a better plan for me, elsewhere!! ;-) Sorry y'all. I really was lookin' forward to Matt's show, and meeting Fortunato, and all. Chuckle ... what a trip! |
Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: Branwen23 Date: 14 Sep 00 - 01:03 AM ok... so where was Jed? I was solo tonight... Fortunato had no one to entertain him but me and Vince... who happened to be at YOBB... I expect some sort of explanation... We had fun anyway.... we did some a capella tunes... we drank some beer... it was fun. Of course, it would have been more fun with more people, and perhaps some musical accompaniment.... -Branwen- |
Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: guinnesschik Date: 13 Sep 00 - 05:30 PM *Sniff, sniff* I'm gettin' all choked up here. |

Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: Wesley S Date: 13 Sep 00 - 11:09 AM I forgot to mention that I met a guy at the Ft Worth guitar show last weekend that had just bought a bouzouki. He said that he plays a lot of celtic music finger-style on the guitar also. I told him about the B & B sessions and he was interested. He said he would try to make it next Wednesday. |
Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: Wesley S Date: 13 Sep 00 - 11:06 AM If Bretta's energy holds out we'll both be at the harp concert but I doubt that we'll make it to the Bull and Bush. Her tolerence for smoke right now is nonexistent. But we're looking forward to seeing everyone. I'll have a chance to prove that Bretta is not a figment of my imagination. See you there. |
Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: Fortunato Date: 13 Sep 00 - 09:43 AM As if anyone could substitute for you! Hope to see you next time. Regards Chance/Fortunato |
Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: guinnesschik Date: 13 Sep 00 - 09:33 AM Aw, you flatterer! (Is that a real word? 'Tis now.) You'll find plenty of good looking women at YOBB, but if you buy a guinness for another, be sure and let her know she's but a substitute for me! ;-) Ya'll have a great time! |

Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: JedMarum Date: 12 Sep 00 - 11:40 PM OK ... we'll meet at Mimosa's show. It's a benefit for the county so I'll bring an extra can of admission for ya, since you'll not likely get a chance to shop enroute! Wesley??? You'll be there?? And Branwen? can you make it to YOBB for about 10? We could jam for an hour or so, right? Maybe two? |
Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: GUEST Date: 12 Sep 00 - 10:55 PM oh well I guess some other good lookin' woman will have to drink that pint of guinness I was gonna buy you. another time then, keep the fire on your hearth well tended. cheers, fortunato/cnance shiver |

Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: Fortunato Date: 12 Sep 00 - 02:10 PM Yes Jed I'll have a car. Ok, meet you at Mimosa's concert at 7:30. I'll have an 8:30 meeting on Thursday so I can't jam ALL NIGHT, but we'll give it a go. |
Subject: RE: New Session for Dallas/Ft Worth Folks From: Jed at Work Date: 12 Sep 00 - 01:25 PM OK - I suggest meet at Mimosa's concert in Bedford at 7:30 (directions, and info above) and then head over to YOBB. I believe there were a few who couldn't make it early anyway - but if we get to YOBB at 10 we can jam 'til closing! Fortunato - you will have a car?? |
