Subject: RE: Electronic Tip Jar for Musicians From: reggie miles Date: 27 Jul 00 - 09:47 PM Hey Alice, as one who gets tipped on the street for his musical endeavors, I find it interesting to see this development on line. There are many things that are free on the web, as a matter of fact I receive my internet access through a group called Freei for free. I would have never guessed that this could be possible but in this day and age it seems almost anything is. So we now have the capability to be virtual buskers or maybe closer to a jukebox. I kind of like that idea. The technical aspects of what makes this possible are intriguing but as one who has little knowledge of such matters I would be suspect of them. It boggles the mind. What will they think of next? |
Subject: RE: Electronic Tip Jar for Musicians From: Bill D Date: 27 Jul 00 - 10:46 PM ...so, you just send your laptop down to the corner and have it play tunes, and those who are moved can enter their VISA# directly...or maybe connect their palm-pilots and NO ONE need be there to listen or sing. There will be a program in the Palm which is pre-set to analyze whether this music suits the owner, and transfers funds according to a score sheet...*grin*...(what? ME cynical?) |
Subject: RE: Electronic Tip Jar for Musicians From: Alice Date: 30 Jul 00 - 09:29 PM No, no, no, Bill D, this is for tipping people on the internet for sampling their work, not for real live performances. I can't tell if you responded knowing that or if you were responding tongue in cheek. Maybe I'm an optimist, but I think this is an excellent idea for people who have performance sound files on their websites. |
