we live near the junction of Egerton Road and Wilbraham Road. The Oaks was knocked down about 10 years ago but the Lloyds, The Royal Oak and all the pubs around Chorlton Green still survive and they have been joined by about 20 conversions of shops to small bars many of which are great fun although Real Ale is rare.

What do you do apart from work? Perhaps you could make contacts through places of leisure? The Manchester Evening News runs a couple of contact pages every week. You could try the MEN online.

Friends Reunited is another route. Which schools did you attend? You will find your class mates listed under the year they left so if you left secondary school in 1956 have a look at your school for that year and you will find somebody or other!

Wow! I was raised in Manchester and knew tons of people, I am 71 years old, I would love to make contact with someone who knew me, I left Wythenshawe over 45 years ago came to the USA, I sure miss Manchester, in my teens I worked down bradford pit, I believe that is where City's football ground is now.

Now this is an old thread, I know, but I just had to come in here and say something. I was a student at Manchester till 1976 or so . I lived in Rusholme & W. Didsbury and also cut my teeth, singing at the Welcome Inn in Rusholme, in fact I was sarting through some old tapes when I came across a news interview, in which I was 'spokesman' for the commitee, which forced the city council to re-consider its demolishion order, when they were 'renewing' the area. I also knew Paul Conner, and glad to hear he was still around at the time of posting ! Is this still the case? I think I remember a Bryn who also sang at the Welcome's Tuesday singarounds. I also knew a fair few in the Manchester scene, including, the original song carriers club. I havent seen, nor been in touch with anyone since I left Manchester in 1978, until recently, when I googled around with some old names and places. I have since found this thread, and also got in touch with someone else from my Manchester of the 70's , a Song Carrier & Welcome Inn regular, Rowdy Yates. he ran the Lifeline drop in centre in town. Anyone else remember anyone else? Actually, I'll try stating a new thread I think .

Okay except for one thing - Hotmail limits your email capacity! I used to use Yahoo! which had a similar restriction, so I signed up with FreeServe - problem solved!

As to having the cat basking in mud - too obvious! Sending a cat to Cat from MudCat - now there's devious!

One other thing - does Hotmail restrict the NUMBER of attachments? Yahoo! does...

I'll sort out the photos this evening, and email them in JPeg format. If that doesn't work I'll try something else...

Windows 98 Pbrush recognises JPegs, though 95 and previous doesn't. If you've got Office 95 or better, you should have Microsoft Photo Editor - that also handles JPegs.

Failing that, download something!

Ey up D the G! You forgot to mention the annual festival! If you book Earls Morris again this year, we'll do our best not to all be ill at once! Honest! We've had some new members recently, so that improves the odds!

One of our Morris ladies is having her 50th 'do' on St. Patricks night, and is organising a ceilidh. Are Kamikaze available, and how much (Antrobus village hall)?

The alternative is 5BG - best price wins! We've had 5BG for our last two 'do's', and JJ knows why I'd like a change... :(

Don't forget, if you don't fancy going into the big metrolops on a muggy mundy there is always what is I believe the longest continuous club in the area on the same night - The White Lion at Swinton - 5 miles west of centre along the A6. Singers/Guests alternate Mondays. £2 on a guest night (if you ask me nicely...) and 50p on Singers night (Free if you do a bit!)- Not trying to poach - honest! Just letting people know.

I'm not sure about letting in noisy bearded accordianists from Farnworth though.....

Guess who Bernard???

I will try and sneak off one Monday for a night at the Anglers though - but don't tell anyone!

Perhaps we could co-host a MudCat 'do'?
