Subject: The bawdy ballad of Kate Dalrymple From: GUEST,Sheila Date: 02 Aug 00 - 12:27 AM I have an ancestor Katherine Dalrymple who lived in Fife in the late 1700s. None of her children named a child after her and someone suggested it was because of a bawdy ballad of Kate Dalrymple that was being sung at the time. Does anyone know of such a song and possibly the words? It is NOT the Corries "Kate Dalrymple" - I've checked that one, and it was written by William Watt in the 1800s. Any help at all would be appreciated. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Kate Dalrymple From: GUEST,Murray on Saltspring Date: 04 Aug 00 - 03:17 PM Sheila, the Watt song is the only one there is, as far as I know. If there IS a bawdy song of this title, I'd like to see it, for I'm collecting such for an anthology. What's your source for this info?? |
