Hi folks,

Just a reminder that, as usual, the Jolly Angler in Central Manchester (UK) will be having its usual singaround tomorrow night.

Did anyone go last week? what happened? Anybody fancy going tomoorrow?

Feedback etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Catrin

catrin, I was at the White Lion, Swinton, last Monday, and will be at the Travellers Rest, St Helens, tonight, but hope to see you at the Jolly Angler very soon, possibly next Monday. I'll be thinking of you. Joan

Anybody wanting directions or info - there was another thread recently (sorry I don't know how to do blue clicky's between mudcat stuff yet) otherwise pm me or leave a message on this thread if you need info or directions.

I can't get down next week cos i'm away on me jollies, not whitby I'm afraid, but slumming it with the family in Portugal......I'd rather be @ Whitby festival! See Ya! John

Hi Tone d'F

If you're travelling by tram or train, it's get off at Picadilly train Station, walk down Picadilly approach, take the first right (Ducie Street), follow the road for a few minutes and its on your left.

From Picadilly bus Station - ask for the train station (a very short walk) but don't go up Picadilly approach, turn left up Ducie Street intead (you can't miss it).

By car, find Great Ancoates Street, Ducie Street is off it (Sort of opposite Toys R'Us)

See you in three weeks!

Catrin

Jon J - enjoy Portugal and see you on your return!

Brill - Joan. I'll look forward to that - I shall be a mixture of emotions I think. Prabably extremely hungover, sad that the festival has finished, but glad to be at The Angler because its (nearly always) a really good night!

I'm back in Manchester but I prefer to do a 3 song spot than a singaround. Is anything happening in Manchester (central to North.

Where's it happening?

I love the "Jolly" but I feel the need for the terror of doing it on the sharp end. I love singaround but in a different way.

I must be mad.

Hi folks - back from Fylde - sob sob sob - had me a great time as usual!! Only one Mudcatter was brave enough to intorduce himself (am I really that intimidating? - i know there must have been others there!) Hello to Fleetwood if you're reading this.

I've got a meeting first that I can't get out of, so I won't be there much before 9.30pm - doesn't stop others getting there earlier though.

Welcome to everybopdy who can make it.

Llanstock is the name of the UK get together in Wales on Oct 13th-15th. Its gonna be really goood. Lots of interest, sing-arounds and a Ceiledh. I've got a tracer on the thread so I'll refresh it for you (sorry can't do blue clickys).

You see, I've forgotten about Fylde already

Guest Alan - White Lion, Swinton - Singers nights 2nd and 4th Mondays (guests 1st and 3rd). Singers usualy get 2/3 songs. Alternate between Jolly Angler and White Lion singers nights for variation?

I will be visiting the Jolly Angler soon armed with Swinton leaflets and a jolly good deal for local clubs and mudcatters!! I will post the forum with details and a special offer for 'catters as well.

See ya soon

Oh - and I forgot to mention the other Central Manchester club. 1st and 3rd Tuesdays at the Hogshead. Went last night and saw Golden Apple. Excelent young act with lots of good material and energy. Singers are welcome as well. The club runs in the pub bar so you have to make allowances for people who are not realy in there for the folk music but it seems to work pretty well anyway. The crowd are, on average, younger than the general folk club audience and has a good cross section of folkies/goths/ bikers/students/hippies and fat bearded old men like me! Very nice to see people of all ages and backgrounds enjoying the same music. Another Tuesday session in central Manchester is the Irish session at the Peveril of the Peak. Not been yet but hear it is very good and all musicians are welcome.

Gypsy Reel went down well this evening, and, thanks to St. John's Wort, I managed to do a well received support for them.

I've actually got a gig this year! November 14th on the Edale Rambler Folk Train... more details nearer the time.
