After the first chorus, it goes into: I've been kicked by the wind, robbed by the sleet Had my head stove in but I'm still on my feet And I'm still willin' I've smuggled some smokes etc. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Willin' , Lowell George From: jeffp Date: 05 Dec 00 - 01:45 PM I learned the next-to-last line as "I smuggled some smokes and folks from Mexico..." Other than that, I agree with your lyrics. BTW, I first heard this song on an old Seatrain album, which also contained an incredible version of Orange Blossom Special. jeffp |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Willin' , Lowell George From: Steve Latimer Date: 05 Dec 00 - 02:09 PM I've always said that if I was a long haul trucker I'd have this song on tape loop. I agree with Jeff P. about the last line. I really liked Little Feat. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Willin' , Lowell George From: guinnesschik Date: 05 Dec 00 - 02:13 PM We play at a beautiful little joint in Shreveport; the owners are good friends of ours. On Saturdays, after the gig, we go back to their house for a HUGE jam session 'til 4 or 5 in the AM. We usually kick off with "Willin'." Every time I hear it, it conjures tons of smiles. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Willin' , Lowell George From: Branwen23 Date: 05 Dec 00 - 05:10 PM LittleFeat.net "Willin'" is on the "Sailin' Shoes" album. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Willin' , Lowell George From: GUEST,LEJ Date: 05 Dec 00 - 06:51 PM On my summer motorcycle trip to New Mexico,I had no taped music, but I compensated by singing at the top of my lungs anyway. Someday I'll put together a sound-track of that trip and, along with Six Days on the Road and the Grateful Dead's Truckin',Willin' will figure prominently. |
Subject: ADDPOP: Willin' (Lowell George) From: Joe Offer Date: 01 Jun 17 - 12:26 AM Dwditty did a good job of his transcription above, but I'm going to listen through the Little Feat recording and see if I disagree with anything. My corrections will be in bold. The differences are negligible, except that Dwditty left out the "kicked by the wind" verse. WILLIN' (Lowell George - of Little Feat) Spoken: I've been warped by the rain, driven by the snow I'm drunk and dirty, don't you know And I'm still willin' When I was out on the road, late at night I seen my pretty Alice in every headlight It was Alice, Dallas Alice
And I've been from Tuscon to Tucmcari Tehachapi to Tonapah I've driven every kind of rig that's ever been made Driven And if you give me weed, whites, and wine And you show me a sign I'll be willin' to be movin' Well, I've been kicked by the wind, robbed by the sleet, Had my head stoved in, but I'm still on my feet, And I'm still willin' I smuggled some smokes and folks from Mexico Baked by the sun every time I go to Mexico And I'm still...
