I was reading in the news section of Dirty Linen last night and came across some news that really knocked me for a loop.

Davey Steele of the Battlefield Band is in the battle of is life. He is being treated at home for a malignant brain tumor. He has, of course, suspended his duties with the Batties for now. He is a very talented musician, singer & song writer. His version of Johnny Cope with the band Ceol Beg remains the definitve one. His has long been one of my favorites, along with Andy Stewart, Donny Munro of Runrig, Archie Fischer, Dick Gaughan. He just has that ability to make a song his own.

The article mentioned a website that he is using to keep concerned friends & fans posted on his situation, but dang if I didn't leave the magazine at home this morning. Does anybody out there have access to the issue? I will search and try to find it.

Let us all keep him & his family in our prayers.

Davy Steele was at Tonder Festival in Denmark last weekend - sadly diminished without his luxurious head of hair and very quiet, but at one point he joined some friends on stage and was greeted with a great round of applause. Let's keep our fingers tightly crossed for him! - Susanne
