I must say I'm amased at the reaction of so many people who resent displays of affection between 'catters when there has been so much genuine poison strewn about in other threads. What kind of priorities do we have when threats, stalking and other kinds of vitriol are allowed to be posted, yet, displays of affection are attacked? What the hell is wrong with this picture?

Have to agree with Kendall on this one. Earlier this week, when annap announced her name change and wedding, one of the posts wished her the best and hoped that people would be telling her and her new husband to "get a room" for many years to come.

Although it took me a while to figure it out, Chuck and his SO took the suggestion to heart. So why all the anger? I have seen kinder treatment of anonymous guests spewing venom at well respected Mudcatters. What gives?

Chuck, I am not your DAMN buddy either. I don't know you from Adam. But you must have suspected that this series of posts would draw some criticsm. Sandy Toes is I assume deeply religious. She also loves you and was hoping to draw a smile from you. Don't spoil it for her and yourself by getting angry. Share the joke with people who understand and ignore those who don't.

Chuck, you did set yourself up. I reserve the right to jab at anyone on the Mudcat, especially if they make themselves visible like you did.

When flamers show up and are inappropriate, I delete a few things here and there, send them a note asking them to stop-or-else, and consider calling the FBI when it really gets out of hand.

When someone uses my forum for personal use at the expense of the others, I make a joke about them on Mudcat radio. Seems fair to me.

Now Chuck, I never contacted you about what was happening here, though I did question the appropriateness of your public affection on a music forum. I know that people have contacted you and questioned you in the forum concerning this behavior. Now there are no rules here, you are not doing anything wrong, but people are uncomfortable and they are somewhat nicely telling you so. I would have just assumed that you had respect for the people you share this space with. I assumed that you would not want to make anyone uncomfortable, especially because you love us too. I assumed that you could communicate with us maturely and respectfully so that we could understand and share in the beauty that you must be experiencing. However, you are not. Anyone brings it up, you get defensive and belligerent. We just want to understand.

I didn't say anything mean about you or SandyToes. It was all in good fun. I hope you have a sense of humor that I just don't understand. If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

I check the forum at least twice a day.

I open music threads and others that pique my interest.

I think I opened the thread in question some time ago, decided it wasn't for me, and never looked/worried about it again.

It remindes me of when I was in junior highschool, and we went down to the Arboreteum in Ann Arbor on a beutiful spring night with some out-of-town guests. Now this was about 1971 and spring was in the air. My Mom told us not to go and we went anyway. Wellll, she got our big chuck wagon triangle and went down there and and started banging it about, and yelling Jimmyyyyyyyy, Johnyyyyyy, Jimmyyyyyyy, Johnyyyyy. We actually had decided to go back a little before she got there and commented on the strange lady banging on something that was behind us when we got home.

When she got home she was furious, but laughing just the same. It seems that while she didn't find us about every 2 minutes a couple of kids would quicly depart from the bushes with grass in their hair, buttoning various parts of clothing. etc. Now, you would understand this if you have ever seen my MOM approaching with fire in her eyes beating a 18 inch steel triangle in the other.

My point is, we just didn't notice any of the college kids releasing their libido when we were down there, and if we did we discretely took another trail. Yet, they were showing their affection in a public place.

I havne't noticed anything out of line with Chuck and Sandy Toes, and when/if I did I would discretely close the thread (Even though I think PMs are a better way to display private discussions).

So, If the thread bothers you guys. WHY CONTINUE TO READ IT!

The point is, JAB, that they were doing it in a lot of serious threads. If they kept it in one it would be perfectly fine. Most that have discussed this, have no problem with the affection, just that they were hijacking serious threads for their personal purposes. I really don't care if they posted pictures of their naked selves consummating their relationship, as long as the thread was titled appropriately.

Sandy Toes, I have been around a fair amount of religious bigotry in my life. I must tell you that you seem to have the cadence and the timbre. I hope that is not the case. But I must tell you that if you feel this is a place for you to do missionary work, you are mistaken. You will only incur derision, and will likely not win the first convert. And you will contribute to the decline of a fine site. Instead of wearing your religion on your sleeve, and casting aspersions on others, why don't you try doing what another among us does. That person has let us know of her convictions and seeks to inspire by actions, not by judgement. I hope you will give it some thought. Most of the fine folks here would respect your views as long as you didn't seek to push them on others without respect for those who don't agree.

Chuck and Sandytoes, I have missed most of threads inquestion but I guess that you have been using the forum to make personal remarks between one another.

An excelent text based communications program that would suit that purpose is ICQ (www.icq.com), is a free download and is one that I use to chat with friends. Also, assuming you both have PC's, setting up a hearme room is easy, free and you have voice contact and then there are other programs.

Sandytoes, I am also a Christian but I have many friends of many different faiths - please don't use this or any other forum to inflict a religion on others.

Mudcat Radio has been running for almost a year now and 'every week' we have commented on threads and messages. That's 48 weeks of commenting on what we see in Mudcat. Now why should you think that posts from you and Sandytoes should be exempt from comment?

Your postings were judged to be different enough from the normal run of things to be deemed worthy of comment.
