Subject: Thought for Aug 18: Individuality From: hesperis Date: 18 Aug 00 - 01:43 PM Although I am new to Mudcat, I have found my time here quite enjoyable. (Fast on my way to becoming addicted to it...) One of the things I like best about it is the open-mindedness and individuality of the people involved. A (mis?)quote from somewhere: "You respect people when they get it right, but you love them when they get it wrong, because that is when they are most human." To me that means the little quirks are what people get attached to, and on the internet, quirks are the only way to really differentiate people enough to know them. So Little John Cameron writes in Scots, Little Hawk and Sophocleese are peacemakers, Kat welcomed me to her Greenman Tavern with the exact right words, Bearheart's an astrologer with a cool website, Roger in Sheffield has my name-flower in his garden, Mbo likes Oasis, and I occasionally write in colour. It's part of who we are, and who we are is a part of what makes this place Mudcat. ~*sirepseh*~ |
