Subject: More on Danny Boy From: PattyG Date: 01 Aug 97 - 12:11 PM Re: Danny Boy Just received my new PBS Home Video booklet and saw where an entire video has been created that traces the song's history. They give the credit for the lyrics to Fred Weatherly, a philosopher/barrister and state that this tune has traveled the world in a variety of musical forms, from classical to bluegrass to reggae. Hm-m-m-m....reggae? I guess I'd have to hear that to believe it! Anyway, thought some of you might be interested:) |
Subject: RE: Newfoundland/Jamaica From: Cliff McGann Date: 01 Aug 97 - 04:59 PM In places like Newfoundland which has extremely strong ties to Ireland much trading went on between Newfoundlanders and Jamaicans so you could see how a song like Danny Boy could have a reggea version. Would love to hear it. |
