Subject: IF YOU WERE AN EXOTIC DANCER-part2
From: catspaw49
Date: 24 Aug 00 - 11:36 AM

Awhile back, we had a lot of fun with part one of this idea. Dave Swan posted the original and since the politico-religious stuff is getting a bit heavy, I thought maybe besides the music threads, this might lighten up the load a bit. It was a wonderful thread.

HERE'S THE GAME
Suppose you were an exotic dancer or working somehow in the "Adult Entertainment" industry. You'd probably want to pick a pseudonym. A friend of Dave's came up with this formula:

FIRST NAME: The name of your first dog (or cat,chicken,hamster....pet).......Old 'Catters playing again can use their second or third.

SECOND NAME: The name of the street you were living on when you had said pet.

In my case ....... "Taffy Eastport"

The original thread is HERE.....Some really funny stuff there, but I'm expecting a few laughs here too.

Spaw

I told myself that I wouldn't post to this one but when I realized that the name would be "Heinie Fountainhead" I couldn't resist. Heinie was a great old dachund and we lived on Fountainhead Drive.

Somehow it doesn't work out.

Chowderhead Biddeford? Chowderhead Pool?

Actually had a roommate (in the hospital) when I was 16, who was an "exotic dancer." She was also a contortionist and her stage name was TNT Red. Had the longest red hair I've ever seen...and the palest skin. Her real name was Joy Murphy.

Think if I was a stripper my name would be Grania Bareit

My dad was ahead of his time. He named our wirehaired fox terrier "Reefer" way back in 1939 while we were living on McClellan Street in Schenectady. Hence, I dance, prance and do other naughty things under the name of Reefer McClellan.

I lived on a corner growing up, so it could be Nellie Perine...but Nellie Dubois (even though we pronounced it "Doo-Boys" instead of "Doo-Bwah") sounds better....

BTW, I did work as an exotic dancer for a year. A prize to whoever guesses what stage name I used (only one, not two names)...

First pet was a male orange tabby cat. We moved while he owned us, I think:
"Dabbie Grey Beverley"
or
"Dabbie Grey Sullivan"

(Yes, I somehow thought it made perfect sense to name an orange cat Dabbie Grey. (I was under a year old when I named him. My favorite poem was Dapple Grey, but I couldn't pronounce it.)

The other pet at Sullivan st. was a female grey tabby, her name was French for 'cake':
"Gateau Sullivan" - Now that would be a classy 'lady'... ;)

Not my pets, but still,
"Wizard Benson" Oh, dear. I forgot what street Spot lived on.

Now,
"Sweetie Tecumseh"
Her real name is 'Jelly Roll', but she doesn't answer to it.

Bert,
I take in abandoned strays usually from my vet's office. They live out their golden years in luxury and die peacefully. Poor Susie was a kitten who died from cancer. Lucifer died of a heart attack - congenital heart defect (Yes I had an autopsy done) - while I was out of town. The first rule of my home which is presented to all who enter is "The cats can do no wrong". Everyone laughs until the cats pee on them in their sleep or vomit in their shoes to show displeasure and I nod knowingly and say "The cats can do no wrong". They only do these things to people who annoy them. And I have given up trying to teach them manners.
Mary

Peg - Yeah, I lived on the outskirts of Skaneateles from age 10 to 20, having moved down there with my parents from Ontario, Canada. Then moved back to Canada at age 21 and have stayed there since, except for some lenghty visits to Rolling Thunder's camp in northern Nevada. That camp is gone now, by the way.

Skaneateles has a beautiful lake, and is indeed a pretty town, although I remember the economy was rather depressed around there.

I love people who take in strays. When we lived in Alabama, our daughter Rachael would bring them home by the dozen. All kinds of animals, not just cats. We had a veritable zoo. All we have left now is three cats, one dog, one turtle and a snake.

Dammit, Den, I knew shouldn't get an image! Shit!

LMAO, by the way. Good one.

And I've since remembered that "Soupy" was a nickname for a dog whose given name was Victor. Victor Main. Good, strong, Chippendale sort of a name. Go with cats at the same time and it's Reno Main or Toby Main. Not so good. For other dogs than first ones, there's Rival Plum and Ruby Center.

And Mimosa, I may very well steal the name "Orpheus Throckmorton" if I ever get to writing short stories again...

Trying not to picture the outfit a Wisconsin stripper named "Boots Menominee" might...uhm...wear,

Throckmorton? Hey, I had a hamster (no, not a hampster) named Throckmorton. He and his brother Winston shared a common cage together until they started trying to kill each other. I got a second cage for Winston. They used to curse each other across the divide. It was like the DMZ in Korea.

One day I made the mistake of letting them out for exercise at the same time, one in the living room and one in the kitchen. I let down my guard for 30 seconds and they found each other. A hell of a fight erupted, which I tried to break up in every way I could think of. Dumped a bucket of water on them, got bitten trying to separate them, finally wrapped my hands in a towel and got them apart and back in their cages. They rushed to the bars and gnashed their teeth at each other for the next 15 minutes. Brotherly love, eh?

About 6 months later Winston died. Throckmorton died a few days later. I had taken the liberty of letting Winston's body rest in state in the freezer (don't ask me why), so I took both of them out to the woods....and buried them in a common grave.

Ironical, ain't it?

Your strippers' names would be...

Winston Peter Street Throckmorton Peter Street

What a feisty pair!

Mimosa, rather than an exotic dancer, your nickname is more appropiate for an Opera character, of the British author Sullivan, (can't remember the name), am I right ? (gotcha! I discovered the origin of your exotic nickname!) Mine is an Opera character too, from Bizet's CARMEN.

My name for exotic dancer, or better for a flamenco dancer, is Giménez Lope de Vega.

I can't remember that far back. Had a pet goat in rural Iowa when I was a baby. And I lived on numbered streets most of my life.

Can I cheat and use my oldest pet and my current street name?

If so: Lemmy St.Croix.

Oh, just remembered an older one: Kirby Main. I like Lemmy St.Croix better, though.

My Italian father named our first dog.

Nero Randolph

And a housemate named the first cat.

Caligula King Tree

14th Street, "The Silver Slipper", "Gold Rush" and "This Is It???" (old Washington, DC) would never be the same if I had a prayer of living up to the names.

Love these! My stripper name would be Hershey Garnet. The mind reeeels. lol (She was a chocolate dachshund who was the Einstein of dogdom, I swear).

Sinsull and Bert, kindred spirits you are...all my pets for the last 20 years have been strays and/or unwanted animals. My sister, too. She has 2 dogs, 3 parrots and I have 3 cats. Wish we could save them ALL.

(By the way, Bert, that's the name of my big orange kitty!)

Bubba Orange brings to mind Bill Clinton in a Speedo suffering from jaundice. No ten tucking there!
Peg, we are all waiting. what was your stage name? Or at least give us a hint - a starting letter, number of syllables,...
Bert and the Beanster - I have never been able to say "No". Have housed sick birds, baby squirrels, turtles, cats, dogs, and a vicious dove, etc. My sister-in-law lives on ten acres in the country and has a set of unwanted dogs who were about to be euthanized - a huge lab who has no concept of his size and a tiny Yorkie. They are inseparable. Before that she had a red setter also about to be euthanized and another "lab" who was probably a Newfie. She was the size of a cow and so lovable.I live in an apartment and take in cats. some I find homes for; some just settle in. As with everything else in life, give a little and get back one hundredfold.

Amen to that, Sinsull. I like to take in cats from shelters or wherever that have "behavioral" problems and that are supposedly unadoptable. Baloney! I'll adopt them! hahaaa One of mine wouldn't let me touch her (literally) for the first year. Now, she sticks to me like glue! (sorry for the thread creep)

Tammy Capron Farm? Muffin Nairn? Jinx Nairn? Mishka Ara, Hull, or Grandin? Seigfried Ara, Hull, or Grandin? Lonathan S Pupek Beltsville? Beorn Jasper Riley? Nike Pig's Ear? Addidas Pig's Ear?

Arrrrghhhhh!

My first comics'teacher called his red cat "canguro"(kangaroo) because it's his totemic animal. But after the pet's first diarrhea attack,he christened it again : Copropotamo ,which seems to mean someone defecating a lot.How about something like this, would we pay?!Besides,if any of us was an exotic dancer, shouldn't all mudcatters have their names on the guest list?! Anyway I'd be happy to organize a tour here in Kings' Cross if you like(there are something like 20 stripping nightclubs around my place...to quotate the legitimate ones...plus the brothels and the 'Priscilla'nightclubs...)

Our neighbor has just moved out and her cats are still around. I don't know if they escaped or were deliberately left behind. So we are leaving food and water out for them. We'll probably get stuck with them.

I'd be Peter or Pippin Pound...... one was a budgie and the other a rabbit.

We used to play this with your mother's maiden (unmarried) name. Then I'd be Pippin Dunford.... The Shark (also known, I believe, as Manitas...... got you there!) would be Shadow Boundary or Shadow Sullivan. He only ever had goldfish as a pet, and the chickens they kept had names like 'lunch'.....
