Subject: Poor Man - Lyrics and Tune From: Jeri Date: 25 Aug 00 - 09:25 AM POOR MAN (Author Unknown) It's a poor man who can't see the beauty In the sun and the wind and the rain. It's a sad man who can't love his neighbor Who always finds cause to complain So I thank the Lord that I'm not a poor man I'm not a sad man, no not me. I've got the sun and the fields, the wind and the rain And I never lack good company! Notes: I have a little book of folk songs called "Songs of all Time" (c) 1946, 1957, by Cooperative Recreation Service, Inc., Delaware, Ohio. This one is on the back, and says "Information on origin of this song is desired by Publisher. I don't know whether they ever found anything more. I thought the song sounded wonderful and transcribed the words and tune. I thought it was a bit short though. Something clicked in my head (as opposed to the usual rattle) and - it's a round! (Match the "it's a ___ man" bits.) |
