Subject: 'You are always close to me' From: Ed Pellow Date: 28 Aug 00 - 01:36 PM I'm looking for the words and hopefully music for a song I used to hear in church when I was young. The first verse starts with the words "I watch the sunrise" Each successive verse is (I think) about a time of the day, with the last verse being about watching the sunset. The chorus is something like:
"For you are always close to me That's all I can remember. Any help with words, chords or melody (I can vaguely remember the tune)or any other information, would be much appreciated. Many thanks Ed |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: 'You are always close to me' From: Quincy Date: 28 Aug 00 - 08:51 PM Well Ed, so far I can only find the last verses as used in a blessing....suppose it's a start!! I think it's the same as yours, I can remember singing it in the my previous church. Will keep looking for the rest of it! I watch the sunset fading away, lighting the clouds with sleep. And as the evening closes its eyes, I feel your presence near me.
For you are always close to me
I watch the moonlight guarding the night,

I watch the sunlight shine through the clouds, Warming the earth below. And at the mid-day, life seems to say: "I feel your brightness near me." CHORUS: For you are always... 3. I watch the sunset fading away, Lighting the clouds with sleep. And as the evening closes its eyes, I feel your presence near me. CHORUS: For you are always... 4. Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: 'You are always close to me' From: GUEST Date: 16 Jul 08 - 08:30 AM This song reminds me of God's faithfulness and how much he strengthened me when I was so alone and sad in the UK and I went to a church and the choir sung it one winter morning when the pain of loneliness was becoming unbearable. Today i am teaching the rest of my choir in Uganda the song. thanks alot mim |

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: I Watch the Sunrise (D O'Donnell) From: goatfell Date: 10 Nov 08 - 04:40 AM Daniel O'Donnell, I think is mince, he's too clean for my liking, he's not even human, but I do like some of the songs that he 'sings' he's good at some but terrible at others. |

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: I Watch the Sunrise (D O'Donnell) From: GUEST,Eoin Date: 15 Jun 09 - 07:34 AM Can some one give me a link to download sheet music for that song please!!! |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: I Watch the Sunrise (D O'Donnell) From: Jim Dixon Date: 19 Jun 09 - 05:24 AM Since the song is still under copyright, it's unlikely that the sheet music is available anywhere for free download. However, I WATCH THE SUNRISE has been published in several songbooks. Here is a vendor that has them: MusicRoom. There may be others. |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: I Watch the Sunrise John Glynn From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 19 Jun 09 - 08:12 PM Since Daniel O'Donnell didn't write this song, I'd suggest his name doesn't properly belong in the heading to this thread, anymore than it would if it were about Johnny B Goode, which he has also recorded. |

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: I Watch the Sunrise (Glynn, Murphy From: GUEST,Jo Itter Date: 11 Feb 10 - 03:29 PM We had this hymn at my daughter's wedding, 13 years ago; she wanted it as she had sung it regularly at her school. Last month we also had it at my mother's funeral, down in Cornwall and my father has been inundated with requests for it from people who came; the rather strange thing about this, is that they moved to Cornwall over 20 years ago from Wickford in Essex, and their parish church there was Our Lady of Good Counsel............... |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: I Watch the Sunrise (Glynn, Murphy From: GUEST,Guest, Frank Nullet Date: 11 Sep 10 - 08:32 AM I heard this song in 1977 at a Presbyterian church in Scotland while I was studying there for five weeks. I got the music and had it sung at my wedding the next year. It stays with you. I have never heard it again here in the US.( I am Catholic-probably part of the reason!) The internet has finally made it possible to find the lyrics, and hopefully the performance as well. I still can't sing it all the way through with tears. Thanks to you all for your comments; it would be a lovely hymn at a funeral. |
