Someone on the Nova Scotia Roots list I subscribe to had a query which I thought Mudcatters might be able to help on. Thanks for any assistance. I will email info to them and have invited them to visit. Here it is then:

"Last summer at the CMA in Louisiana, I attended a musical production, "Evangeline" in Lafayette, Lousiana. I do not know who produced and/or sponsored the event, but it was delightful. I have tried since then to obtain a video (in English) if one exists.

I visited Nova Scotia in July and I found casette tapes and CD's, but no videos. Is there any way you can tell me how to get one or if one even exists? or, perhaps suggest some other avenue for me to try?

Sorry, I can't help, but this request reminded me of one of my own:
I have a song called 'Louisiana' by Randy Newman (I think), which talks about 'five feet of water in the streets of Evangeline', and also mentions President Coolidge, which dates it fairly definitely.
Is this about the same topic as the musical? Can someone help with the historical background to the song? SuperSearch found many threads containing Louisiana, but not as a song title, it seems. Thanks, Susanne

can't help with this request but I have heard of a hilariously funny song about Evangaline...and usually I don' like clever or funny songs...but this one was brilliant...I heard a French-Canadian woman sing it at the University of Maine at Orono..she worked there some years ago..don't know if she still is..anyway, it went on about all the gas stations and cafes and all sorts of places that were named after her...mg
