Subject: RE: So where are we From? From: Joe Offer Date: 11 Sep 00 - 03:55 PM Hey, you guys, be careful with your blue clickys. Somebody left out the closing quote marks in a link, and locked the thread. Quotes aren't needed if you're doing just a simple link - but if you use quotes, you have to both open and close them within the link. I fixed the offending link, but won't identify the guilty party. -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RE: So where are we From? From: Lyrical Lady Date: 11 Sep 00 - 05:48 PM I'm from Mayne Island BC ( 1/2 way between Vancouver and Victoria Pop. 600-800).We have 2 stores, 1 gas station, 2 hotels and a school to gr.8 (High School by water taxie to Saltspring Is.) Lots of talent, good musicians and singers, and a great theater group. Very peaceful and quiet.(especially now that the tourists have gone away!) Worst thing about living here is relying on the BC Ferries for transport. I have spent "many years" waiting for ferries. Check out www.mayneisland.com (our community) for a better idea. |

Subject: RE: So where are we From? From: Mrrzy Date: 11 Sep 00 - 08:43 PM Born in St. Louis but grew up in West Africa, which I still think of as "home" in the sense of where am I from. However, I have now lived in central VA since 1985, and consider it "home" in the sense of where do I live - and plan to live. My genes are 75% Eastern Europe, and 25% "American" via (by name) Hughenot France way back in 174x, and (in the interim) a Cherokee woman 6 generations back. I'm also half Jewish and half Quaker: Mom grew up an ethnically Hungarian Serb in Yugoslavia, and was liberated from Auschwitz the day before turning 16. Dad grew up a Philly-area Quaker with a Russian mother, conscientiously objected to WWII, then went to France to write about Existentialism. They met in Paris, soon after the war. |
