I was actually wondering if there is some sort of "blackboard"in the 'cat for notices like this-looking for an instrument/selling off an istrument...etc...

Gee, Lena, that is a good idea, but from what I've seen in the two years I've been here, I think most Mudcatters are anatomically connected to all of their instruments and never get rid of any of them!**BG**

Why don't you start a thread about having an Instrument Swap/Sale and see what people think? There is always the auction, but that is a bit different.

At any rate, good luck on your search.

Hi Lena,

My sister has a clarinet but I know she isn't planning to sell it, but she teaches music to primary school kids and is often on the look-out for secondhand instruments so I'll let her know. I'm in Newcastle, and she lives in Maitland.

Helen

I really know someone. He collects wind instruments of all descriptions, and often sells them 'when the time is right'. I need a day or so to find out where he is now. He has all kinds of clarinets - even Kinder Klaris. I used to play clarinet in orchestras but only have a Bb, which I would never part with, even though I hardly play it.

Swimming in Coogee this weekend? Are you crazy??!!!! It wasn't THAT warm! I know - I LIVE in Coogee!

Callie

Jim Berringer in Port Melbourne is also a good pro source. He works for the likes of Joe Camilieri and refurbisehed an alto sax for me recently. He's an ex Billings, Montana boy. Let me know via PM if Callie can't locate anything.

Regards, John

PS Until recently I always stayed at the Cooggee Bay when I was in Sydney.

I love cold water.I cried for the of how chilled the ocean was!!! Looks like a lot of people I like lives in Coogee,as well as my family....today I called up a lady from the woodwind shop and she was moved at the idea that someone knew about an alto clarinet. The only alto clarinet i saw in Australia was first played from Lindsay Pollack. He sold it to Tony Gorman, who used to play in Calrion Fracture Zone and Mara together with Sandy Evans. He then caught MS (he's scottish) and when I met him he was writing some music for alto clarinet. He still loves that instrument dearly. But when I was at Woodford everybody was quite amazed at the sight of it.And ah,at 'The Panel',on tv,a month ago,a guy brought it with him and played it.
