It seems like every message I post these days gets stuck in the thread twice. First of all, my apologies. Second, am I doing something wrong, or is there a bug in Mudcat, or is this just a peculiarity of the Internet? I've seen others with the same problem, but not most of you.

Jon, I don't think you should feel too bad about it. After all, I notice that Dick Greenhaus, our Ultimate Guru, double-posts quite frequently. Of course, his messages are always worth reading twice....
I think the trick is that you have so click on the "submit message" just once, resisting the temptation to double-click. Then you have to wait until the message posts and you are taken back to the conference thread listing. It could be that you can use the "back" button or the "conference thread listing" link after you've submitted your message, but that's the sort of thing only Max understands. Seems to me things work best for us amateurs if we click the "submit message" button just once, and wait. Take a beer break if you have to wait too long. It's a good reason for a beer break, isn't it?

Hello... Got nailed with this for the first time today. What my problem was (is) that I clicked reload to update the thread page after I posted a message, and voila, the message posted twice. Seems there are many causes, though...

Yes, avoid using the reload button on these pages. Your messages hang around during your session, only removed by another or leaving and coming back. The reload button makes the pages think that you want to perform an action again.

The only reason you need reload is to refresh your view of the forum. This can also be accomplished by pressing the "Show Threads" button. This is the safe way to refresh.

Thanks to all, I was using the reload button extensively for a while. That was what was doing it.
