Subject: Custy's Irish music website

I've heard that Ireland's musical Custy family has a store in Co. Clare where one can find a large selection of traditional Irish music recordings, and that they have a website for online sales. My search for "Custy" and "Custy's.com" produced no results. Can anmyone give me the link for their website? Many thanks!

What a coincidence. I recently received a Custy's Traditional Music Shop postcard from a friend who was just there. On the front is a drawing of the street and shop and says

Francis St. Ennis Co. Clare, Phone/Fax 065-6821727
Web site is www.custymusic.com
and email is custys.ennis@tinet.ie

Gee, Brendy, I guess I took too long to write all that! No one had answered when I started copying all that down. Good job.

Brendy, Alice -

Thanks much! Now we'll see which one of us goes to the debt house first!

It's a great shop.
I don't know if Mary is in the shop much, but I'll be dropping in in October for a few strings and a chat.

And don't forget to notice the great watercolours by Pat Pidgeon illustrating the site. I think Pat sells his pictures, if you need wedding presents or anything.

Is Pat a local artist, JTT? Know anything more about him?

I took a look at some of their offerings on CD. It's slow going to scroll down on their site, but what a selection! There's so much great Irish music on CD that is very difficult to find in the U.S., so I'm very grateful for your help here. After I make an order with them, I know I'll be going to the debthouse. I've found some music on Irish labels at Down Home Music in El Cerrito, CA., but still not all that I'm looking for. I'm looking for Paul O'Shaughnessy/Paul McGrattan: Within A Mile of Dublin, Paul O'Shaughnessy: Stay Another While, Dan Healy: The Wyndy Turn, Mary Custy: The Ways Of The World, Mary MacNamara: The Blackberry Blossom, and a collection of Donegal fiddlers including Liz Doherty, called Racket In The Rectory, and I'm sure I'll pick out some more when I browse all the offerings. This brings to mind another question - do you know of a U.S. mail order seller of Irish label CD's such as these?

Pat's a local artist - you can contact him through the shop, Custy's, that is. Nice guy, Pat.

What Custy's doesn't have might be available at Claddagh Records in Dublin, a little room-sized shop in Cecilia Street in Temple Bar. I think the website is www.crl.ie but I'm not altogether sure.

Oh, by the way, about Pat Pidgeon: he's the artist who did the covers on Mary Custy's and Sharon Shannon's albums, plus the Ceili Band, etc, etc, etc - too many traditional bands to mention. Wonderful pictures.
