Subject: God's Own Drunk From: Lonesome Cowboy Date: 05 Sep 00 - 08:40 AM Jimmy Buffet does a song (more of a story really) on "Living and Dying in 3/4 Time" called "God's Own Drunk". In Radio Margaritaville's discography there is no credit to the songwriter/storyteller. Does anyone know who it and what the background is on it? The story has a Prohibition era, Appalachian ring to it--mountains, stills, moonshine. A search on this forum revealed only a clue about "Lord Ricard (Richard?) Buckley". Thanks for any information. |
Subject: RE: God's Own Drunk From: Stewie Date: 05 Sep 00 - 09:48 AM The original is a Lord Buckley rap. I have it somewhere on cassette - as I recall, there was also a bear involved. You can find out probably more than you want to know about his nobleness here: Cheers, Stewie. |

Subject: RE: God's Own Drunk From: Dave Swan Date: 05 Sep 00 - 10:44 AM I heard somewhere that the estate of His Immaculate Hipness raised a legal stink over Buffett's use of God's Own Drunk. Has anyone else heard about that and its resolution? |
