I've thought of you a lot recently, but haven't been using my old computer for some time.. the slowness was getting to me.. I've finally got my new IMAC last night..I'm excitied as a schoolkid.. It even has voice recognition.. I can literally tell it what to do! One of the main reasons I'm excited is I can finally start listening to the songs from here.. I've got MP3 Real Audio & whatever.. (as soon as I figure out how to use it, that is!) Anyway, I've got to get the words to a yodeling song called Swiss Miss?... a line goes, "I miss my Swiss, my Swiss Miss misses me...." Any help on this one? Take Care, Gary |
Subject: Lyr Add: I MISS MY SWISS (MY SWISS MISS MISSES ME) From: Quincy Date: 06 Sep 00 - 11:48 AM Hi Gary, think this is what you want. Enjoy your new toy. I MISS MY SWISS (MY SWISS MISS MISSES ME) He was a mountain climber, And oh! how the boy could ski! In cold July, he'd ski so high, Believe me, I don't lie, He'd almost touch the sky, And here's the reason why:
She was a farmer's daughter,
One day he lost his sweetheart.
"I miss my Swiss. My Swiss miss misses me. All the best, Yvonne |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Swiss Miss From: Dale Rose Date: 09 Sep 00 - 09:18 AM Kenny Roberts ~~ but I don't think I have a recording. What few words remain in my mind are different, but then, time has a way of doing that to lyrics imperfectly remembered in the first place. One line I DO remember starts out All the other climbers . . . |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Swiss Miss From: Liz the Squeak Date: 10 Sep 02 - 02:31 AM I notice occasional visitor Ralphie is staying out of this thread. Shame, because as one of the Hackney Martians he's best placed to be able to tell you the lyrics. I'm afraid I've played my copy of the tape so much it's about to expire..... LTS |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Swiss Miss From: Ralphie Date: 10 Sep 02 - 05:09 AM Here Liz....!! Not avoiding you, honest....Just been a bit busy of late pushing the PJD CD !! Yes, I own up to being a Martian...I'll have to get the recording out to check the words...(I thought I'd managed to put all that grief behind me !!) I have a feeling that Chris Pitt restructured the lyrics somewhat, Nowt wrong with that though. Oral tradition etc. Now, where's my Duckophone? Back later Regards Ralphie x |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Swiss Miss From: Ralphie Date: 10 Sep 02 - 06:15 AM GaryD. LTS...etc Here we go I MISS MY SWISS (MY SWISS MISS MISSES ME) I miss my Swiss, My Swiss miss misses Me I hear her Yodelling, all on her own In her yard, working hard Making Toblerones Her dear Papa, makes watches that are Swiss And what is more, he watches me like this Oh, I lost her in the mountains In the mountains she must be I miss my Swiss, my Swiss miss misses me. I miss my Swiss, the second one that iss And what I miss is the way that she could kiss Oh, We go out Yodelling, til the break of dawn In the snow, she would go, and blow... My Alpine Horn Her dear Papa, he saw us through the mist He got the gist, and hit me with his fist Oh, he went nearly cuckoo, he clocked me one for sure I thought, the Swiss, would never go to war I miss my Swiss, thanks to my cowardice But that abyss, was quickly filled like this I had a little Yodell, with these two pals A pair of twins with cheesy grins Their names were... Emm and Thal So yet another Swiss Papa went spare Or as they say in Swiss-French C'est la Gruyere You may be wondering why I never met Ma Mere Well, thats because, all she ever said was... Baaaaa! Exit stage right to Sheep FX... The Horror!!....The Horror!! Regards Ralphie |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Swiss Miss From: Jim Dixon Date: 12 Sep 02 - 03:16 PM Hmmm. Why is it I suspect that version doesn't go back to 1925? Good, though. |

Subject: Lyr Add: I MISS MY SWISS (Gilbert/Baer) From: Jim Dixon Date: 19 May 11 - 08:49 AM Here are the authentic original lyrics from the sheet music at The National Library of Australia: I MISS MY SWISS (MY SWISS MISS MISSES ME) Words by L. Wolfe Gilbert, music by Abel Baer, ©1925. 1. He was a mountain climber, and oh, how the boy could climb! In cold July he climbed so high; believe me, I don't lie. He'd almost touched the sky, And here's the reason why: She was a shepherd's daughter, who lived on the highest peak, Where he'd chase her and she'd chase him and they'd play hide-and-seek. One day he lost his sweetheart; he looked for her in vain. And now this mountain climber keeps singing this refrain: CHORUS 1: I miss my Swiss; my Swiss miss misses me. I miss the bliss that Swiss kiss gives to me. I hear her yodeling sweet melodies, Like the birds and the bees from the Schweitzer trees. Her dear papá makes watches that are Swiss. That's why he watches me like this. I lost her in the mountains; in the mountains she must be. I miss my Swiss; my Swiss miss misses me. 2. He was a bear in snowshoes, and oh, how the boy could ski! He'd ski away; he'd ski all day; he'd ski without a guide. And she'd ski by his side, When they'd ski for a ride. No wonder he's brokenhearted; he's lonesome as he can be. There's no one now to call his own and he can't ski alone. He gave up mountain climbing; he couldn't stand the strain, And now he's washing windows and singing this refrain: CHORUS 2: I miss my Swiss; my Swiss miss misses me. I miss the bliss that Swiss kiss gives to me. She was a working girl, down on her knees, In her yard, working hard, punching holes in cheese. I looked for her; I nearly broke my scalp. I tripped and skipped from Alp to Alp. There must be other climbers who could tell where she could be. I miss my Swiss; my Swiss miss misses me.
