Subject: Banjo tab on computer.... how? From: Margo Date: 08 Sep 00 - 08:41 PM Does anyone know if there are any programs that allow you to notate banjo tab? I've seen tab online but never heard about how to make it. Anyone know? Thanks, Margo |
Subject: RE: Banjo tab on computer.... how? From: Uncle_DaveO Date: 08 Sep 00 - 10:02 PM I use Guitar-Pro. I've heard good things about AcuTab. While Guitar-Pro is supposed to transcribe tab from one key to another (and does for guitar) it doesn't "understand" the special status of the 5th string, so it messes up the result of transcription. Even so, I've used it to a degree, limited mainly by my own lack of musical education, and have been pretty well satisfied. I know there is at least a third tabbing program around, but can't think of the name right now. Dave Oesterreich |
Subject: RE: Banjo tab on computer.... how? From: IvanB Date: 08 Sep 00 - 10:20 PM I don't play banjo (I have a tenor sitting in the closet waiting for me to refurbish it) but I use Tabledit for guitar tabs. I know it also does banjo tabs and I believe its authors claim it handles the fifth string correctly. It's shareware ($55 US registration) and the demo version can be found at: Click here Here's another link which has some software suggestions (you'll need to scroll down the page a bit for the tab software): Click here

Subject: RE: Banjo tab on computer.... how? From: Uncle Jaque Date: 09 Sep 00 - 09:46 PM I'm using a notation / editing program I'm pretty happy with, costing only $18! It's "Melody Assistant" from MYRIAD Bros. (Paris FR), and a free demo download can be had at: http://www.myriad-online.com/ It supports oodles of TAB varients, including, as I recall, 5-string Banjo. |
