Subject: french/cajun folk song From: GUEST,belboy63@yahoo.com Date: 09 Sep 00 - 07:52 PM I'm looking for the title/performer of a worldwide well known traditional folksong, sung in French but more in Cajun style. The person singing is female and I suppose it is from the seventies (maybe even older). The main part of the song (which is repeated a few times in the song) contains a sentence which I recall like: "... Il y a longtemp qu'on fait la politique..." and then something like 'moustique'. I suppose this will not be easy to identify the song from the description given above, but the song is playing in my head for a few days now and it is driving me crazy: I just got to find out how it is called. Thanks in advance, Ben |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: french/cajun folk song From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 09 Sep 00 - 08:55 PM That would be Complainte pour Sainte Catherine, written by the wonderful Anna McGarrigle, and first recorded on Kate & Anna McGarrigle, in 1975 (still available on CD). Lyrics for all their (recorded) songs are available at their Official Website: http://www.mcgarrigles.com/. Malcolm |
