I heard mention over Labor Day weekend that the out of print Ulster Songbook was going to be re-issued? Anyone know where to get one? or find an old copy? Any ideas on similar books that are worth looking into? Thanks.

Word on the grapevine is: Book of County Down Ballads being published soon. Sorry I 'darn't say more at present, I have been informed by a reliable source, a friend of a friend who is proof reading at present. I will keep you informed as soon as I hear more. (tight lipped at present as I could get a dear friend In bother) Chances are I will get a chance to read the book next weekend. Yum Yum.

The only book which has the title The Ulster Songbook - is published by Causeway Press, Londonderry and contains the words of songs taken (initially without permission) from the Ulster Society's two books of Orange Songs "The Orange Lark" and "Lilliburlero" from Cathal O Baoill: Songs of County Down, from Hugh Shields: Shamrock Rose and Thistle and from John Moulden (ed) Songs of the People Part one. The earlier reference to Songs of County Down may refer to a reprint of Cathal's book, I'll ask him.

The Ulster Songbook is currently available in newsagents throughout Northern Ireland.
