I heard this song...so long ago now that I've probably added words unconsciously to it, but it goes something like this:

I am going far away for I can no longer stay...
(Next verse)

They say this American land is a place where a man can stand,
Where a man may make his fortune to go home,
But though every blade of grass be a diamond in my hand
Still, I'd think on dear old Ireland as my home, boys, home.
I would think of dear old Ireland as my home.

That's pretty much all I can remember. Anyone ever heard it?

Well, I put going far away american grass in the database search box.... and came up with "American Pie." Not the one, eh?
