The song about Christie Farrell, as far as I am aware, was written by Graeme Miles and was recorded also by Martyn Wyndham-Read. Graeme gave the song the title The Old Man and the Sea

I'd like to know more about Graeme Miles. Is he Australian?

"It's a really good song, one he wrote in the mid-60s, '65 I think, and, like Eric Bogle, he started off with some of the best ones, his first song was 'Sea Coal', written in 1949!" Nice one! In verse 1, that'll be Lough Ree - one of two large lakes on the Shannon, mentioned earlier.
