There is great version of this song recorded by Delia Murphy and Richard Hayward. It was a 78, but it has been released on a CD compilation of stuff recorded in Ireland in the '50s. I'm afraid I can't recall the company or even the title - something dreadful like "Irish Melodic Gems". It also has Delia Murphy singing "The Bold Fenian Men" (the best version ever) and MacCormack singing "The Kerry Dances".

And last year I heard Paricia Flynn and Mick Quinn singing it at the traditional singing weekend in Mullagbawn, Co Armagh.

Geo. W. Morgan set the same words to a different melody ("What will you do love?"; "music by Geo. W. Morgan" but the lyricist's name is not given). The sheet music (New York: Grand Conservatory Pub. Co., 1885) is at Music for the Nation: American Sheet Music, 1870-1885 (Library of Congress).
