A friend has asked me to help find the lyrics to this older gospel song for another friend who plays guitar with a gospel quartet. He remembers the song from "years ago" and wants the group to do it.

The title is all he remembers of the words. I did look at Levy with no results.

Thanks.

WALKING THE SEA

1:
Out upon Galilee one night,
Angry waves dashed in mad'ning height;
As the disciples sailed in fright, Over the deep;
Rowing against contrary wind,
Knowing not what might be the end;
Jesus came, He their dearest friend, C:

Walking the sea,(walking the stormy sea),
Walking the sea, (walking the rolling sea),
Jesus at night came unto them Walking the sea;
Walking the sea, (walking the stormy sea),
Walking the sea, (walking the rolling sea),
Jesus at night came unto them walking the sea.
(Yes, walking the sea).

2:
3:
Troubles some times may round you roll
While on your voyage to the goal,
Just as it did in days of old on Galilee;
faithfully strive your bark to guide,
Knowing through storm you'll safely ride,
Jesus is ever at your side, walking the sea.

Walking the stormy sea,
T:
Jesus at night came unto them walking the sea.

I don't know if the following snippet is from a variant of the same song, but it appears to be. It's a really great one to sing. The chorus goes:

Out on the stormy sea
Jesus came to me
Out on the stormy sea
Let it roll
(Repeat, to remainer of tune)

I don't know the rest, but may try to pin down the person who does this and get the lyrics. (Even if Sorcha already provided the lyrics Giac is looking for.) ...unless someone else knows them???

Thanks, Sorcha and Jeri,

I'll send Sorcha's lyrics on to my friend, but would be interested in Jeri's version, too.

You all are wonderful! Snogs!!

Giac

Maybe Praise or Parson might know the tune? Or Joe?

Just had a couple of brain cells kick in. The line "Jesus came to me" should be "Jesus speak (or speaks) to me." It's what could be called a "call and response" song.

The lines of the verses go:
Deedle-dum-dum deedle-dum-dum deeeee-dle) - out on the rollin' sea
Deedle-dum-dum deedle-dum-dum - let it roll...
