You can play THE BONNY WHALING LADDIE here (I hope).

Here's my transcription. I hope my spelling is reasonable.

THE BONNY WHALING LADDIE
As sung by The Battlefield Band

Where hae you been all the day,
Bonnie laddie, hielan' laddie?
Where hae you been so far away,
My ain dear hielan' laddie, o?

Oh, aa've been seekin' fortune's road,
Bonnie lassie, hielan' lassie.
There's money at the whalin', so I've been told,
My ain dear hielan' lassie, o.

I shipped to the north on a Dundee whaler,
Bonnie lassie, hielan' lassie,
Sailin' to the north as a whalin' sailor,
My ain dear hielan' lassie, o.

But Greenland's ice is grey an' cold,
Bonnie lassie, hielan' lassie,
Plenty of ice but there's nae much gold,
My ain dear hielan' lassie, o.

And when will ye come back again,
Bonnie laddie, hielan' laddie,
Ye and a' yer whalin' men,
My ain dear hielan' laddie, o?

Oh, aa wad fain come back again,
Bonnie lassie, hielan' lassie,
An' aa'll gie up this whalin' game,
My ain dear hielan' lassie, o.

Where hae you been all the day,
Bonnie laddie, hielan' laddie?
Where hae you been so far away,
My ain dear hielan' laddie, o?

Oh, aa've been seekin' fortune's road,
Bonnie lassie, hielan' lassie.
There's money at the whalin', so aa've been told,
My ain dear hielan' lassie, o.

Actually I think these words are by Archie Fisher.
Ray and him recorded it on an Edinburgh Folk Festival LP sometime in the sixties.
