Met a Swiss/German lady in France this fall whose name was Madeline. I assured her there were songs about Madeline including one that said, "Oh, Madeline, you are the sweetest one..." and she said she'd like to show (sing) that to her husband. I then thought of "Paddlin' Madeline home" (Bing Crosby? or earlier?) Any Madeline songs are welcome.

See (or hear) a recording by the Balfa Brothers, Swallow Records LP 6019, or the New Lost City Ramblers (20 Years of Concert Performances), Flying Fish #102. Two spendid versions of a song called, guess what?, Madeline.

Litle Duckling is a Madeleine and my mother used to sing 'Paddlin' Madeleine home' to her so if anyone has the words I would love to have them as Mum sadly passed away 4 years ago and never did know the whole song anyway, bless her!

Jacque Brel did a song with the first line, "I'm waiting for Madeleine..." I'll see if I can find it.

Found Madelon, written in 1914 by C Roberts. It was one of the ones I was looking for. Found in a swipes book almost 50 years old!

To Animaterra Happy to be reminded of the Jacques Brel song. Would like to have the lyrics.
