Can any body help? Also I am looking for the words of a song entitled Nafarroa. This is from the Basque region of Spain and has been performed by Oskorri with Martin Carthy. Can Anybody help with this one? Michael Batory |

Subject: RE: Le Mai de Clerieux From: Anglo Date: 02 Oct 01 - 03:05 PM Sorry Michael, can't help you there. My French is not great, particularly failing in vocabulary, it's not in my Larousse, nor in my Larousse de l'ancien français (XIV c. so maybe we want something between then and now). Do let me know if you ever find out. anglo@albany.net |

Nafarroa is on the CD 25 Kantu Urte. Elkar Label. Cat. No. KD 453/4. The track is also included on the Folk Roots Freebie FROOTS 9. I'm still trying to get hold of the lyrics but as far as I can make out Martin Carthy sings a bit in English. The rest is in the Basque language.(Nafarroa=Navarra=Navarre) I think it is a beautiful song and the instrumentation exquisite. But I would expect nothing else from Oskorri.I hope you manage to get the CD and if you can find the words, I'd be delighted to have a copy. All the best, Michael. |
