Subject: Something wrong with search function From: Haruo Date: 06 Oct 00 - 11:16 PM I was just trying to find that "BS: Creation/Evolution" thread by using "creation" or "evolution" to Search the Forum, and I repeatedly get an error message that says: Error Occurred While Processing RequestAnd mind you, I'm not even using Windows NT; I'm at the church and we have Windows 95. Anybody else having this problem or is it just this computer? Liland

Subject: RE: Something wrong with search function From: katlaughing Date: 06 Oct 00 - 11:42 PM No, Liland, it is not your computer. I have had the same trouble this evening. I would suspect it has something to do with the big changes Max has been talking about, as I know they involve doing something to the search which is going to be an improvement, according to what he and Joe have to said. BTW, there is a separate HELP forum where you can post questions like this. If you click on HELP on the menu bar at the top, you will be taken to it and can start a thread like this one or see if anyone else has posted about similar problems. That forum is checked on regularly by the "elfs" and you may get a quicker answer by posting there. Thanks, kat |

Subject: RE: Something wrong with search function From: Haruo Date: 06 Oct 00 - 11:55 PM Thanks, kat. Glad to know it's not just me, or rather not just the church computer. On the other hand, I'm sorry to hear others are suffering. Liland |

Subject: RE: Something wrong with search function From: katlaughing Date: 07 Oct 00 - 12:20 AM LOL.... Liland, another way to find a thread is to put a key word in the FILTER box, at the top of the threads, then set the AGE to however far back you want (it goes back 3 years), then hit GO. I just refreshed the thread you were looking for by finding it that way. kat |

Subject: RE: Something wrong with search function From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 07 Oct 00 - 09:14 AM You can also use the older "Search the Forum" option under "Quick Links" at the top of the page. "NT error" means a problem on the server. |

Subject: RE: Something wrong with search function From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 07 Oct 00 - 05:58 PM Or, if you click on the name of a Mudcatter on a post, up comes a list of all their previous posts. So if you know someone who posted to a particular thread (say yourself), you can search through the list and find the thread.
It's laborious, especially if you pick someone who has done a lot of posts, but it can be a useful facility to fall back on. |
