greetings all--

I just made plans to go to this music festival in New Orleans, LA. I've never been to this festival or to New Orleans before, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as far as what is a good hotel in the area, what are the "must see, must do" things while we're there, any tips for getting around the city (and not getting ripped off), etc.

I couldn't be more excited... there are a lot of bands playing this festival, Little Feat and Kansas among them... can't wait!

Kansas ROCKS! My classical guitar teacher went down to New Orleans 2 years ago. He had fun, but brought back this word of wisdom "Watch out!". You mighy want to talk to Allan C. His daughter Kelly I'm pretty sure is still living in New Orleans. Allan said she's a best tour guide, so if you can get a hold of her, I'm sure she could give you some points of interest!

Check out the Old St. Louis Cemetary #1...but only in daylight, and not by yourself. Be sure to check out the Civil War Monument. Cool stuff. AND, if you like schlocky things, take the Vampire (Anne Rice Junk) or the Voodoo tour. They cost about $15 -$20. Walk everywhere. Drink much, and have coffee and beignets at the Cafe Du Monde on Decatur St. Be a tourist and love it!

Damn, I miss that city.
