I like mp3.com because I found it fairly easy to understand and use.

I know html pretty well though, and am good at computer art.

Unless you are really well known, it is just a convenient place to point your friends to. Like, "you know how you always asked me to record a CD of piano music? Well, go to www.mp3.com/springrise, and you can download some of it."

Haven't heard of this 'peoplesound' place, I'll check it out.

The thing I like about places like mp3.com, is that you can upload large files to them, and they host the files on their servers. You don't have to pay for a large amount of website space from your ISP. You don't have to build a big website to show it all off. You DO have to update the material at mp3.com, however.

Also, there are representatives at mp3.com, who can take care of the admin for your mp3.com page. I am one of them, and am looking for bands/artists who would like that. NMA reps are also supposed to take care of promoting your band on mp3.com, but I have only just started there myself. I will get more into the promotion aspect of it as I learn the ropes.

If you have recorded New Age, Pagan, Singer-Songwriter, Traditional Folk, Gothic, or any Love Songs, and would like the administration of an mp3.com page to be in my hands, please email me to discuss it.

Bert, I know a folksinger/writer who writes wonderful songs and has 3 cd's out and is working on another. He deserves a bigger audience.

To gain an idea of his songs here are some titles:

I Never Prayed for Elvis
Go Ask the Old Cowboy
Abandoned Cars and Broken Hearts

And lots more. Would you start a thread on the subject of what Max/Mudcat is planning? It sounds great.

Max is in the process of creating a new website called 'Other 99'. The premise is that only one percent of music actually gets any air time and Max wants to 'air' the rest of it; the other 99%.

He already has the domain name and is building the website. This site will be for folks like you Paul. So get in touch with us here at Mudcat. We need lots of independent musicians, small bands and groups, etc., So that we can start with a bang.

I've just made a C.D. and have had a few made in response to requests from some people, and it's got me thinking....

It would be quite useful to be able to offer people a chance to hear a few songs at their own leisure. I'm looking at some of these sites that offer the chance of uploading a few tracks which they make available to people visiting them. Companies like MP3.com and Peoplesound dot something or other ..... I'm not into setting up a website for people to access my music (too much like hardwork), and I don't want to keep sending out tapes or C.D.'s (too costly), so it seems like a good idea to be able to say "Go to "This that or the other" dot com, type in my name and you can hear the tracks..."

So, as anyone else done this? Any advice on how best to do it, or on which ones to use? Information and advice greatly received.
