Subject: RE: Looking for a Clancy Brothers tune (Dear Boss) From: paddymac Date: 20 Feb 05 - 10:03 AM This song really does seem to have an amazing appeal. I've been doing it a capella for the last ten years or so, and it always gets a warm response, in slight part because I always dedicate to "anybody who ever had to earn a paycheck by the sweat of their brow." I even did it over the phone at work for a reporter trying to track it down. My boss asked me about that after the story came out in the paper. That was before Mudcat and the incredible community resource it became. I think the appeal of the song is that it is so utterly believable, and just plain funny. The melody is very similar to that for "In The Garden Where The Praties Grow," but I suspect there are as many variations as there are performers.
