Subject: Gwen Verdon too. From: Peter T. Date: 19 Oct 00 - 03:59 PM Bad day for lovers of fine women. We lost Julie London (sigh), and Gwen Verdon. I was privileged enough to see Gwen Verdon a number of times -- the best Broadway dancer of her generation (Ann Reinking or Bebe Neuwirth is maybe this one's). Tore into every part she ever had. I saw her at the beginning and the end of various runs of shows, and she was just as energetic if not more. You always got your money's worth out of her. Hard to believe that someone with such fire is gone. yours, Peter T. |

Subject: RE: Gwen Verdon too. From: Peter Kasin Date: 19 Oct 00 - 10:01 PM Luck guy, Peter, getting to see Gwen Verdon on stage! What a sensual performer she was. It's difficult to imagine another actress as "Lola" in Damn Yankees. She was meant for that role. She exuded confidence, intelligence, sexuality, and sensitivity all at once. -chanteyranger |

What Lola wants, Lola gets.........Most of us never got enough of Gwen Verdon. Do you remember the guest shots she did with Danny Kaye? What a pair.....real magic. Great dancer.......neat lady........wonderful person. Very sad. Spaw |
