Subject: RE: Llanstock - Hammarite calling... From: Liz the Squeak Date: 24 Oct 00 - 09:40 AM Hope you're feeling better soon, but remember, without rugby players, we would have far fewer rude songs for us to snigger over and sing loudly in the bar when they think we aren't listening..... LTS - singer and rugby fan...... did you spot that I wore rugby shirts all weekend except at the dance?!

Subject: RE: Llanstock - Hammarite calling... From: KingBrilliant Date: 23 Oct 00 - 10:14 AM Hammarite now has the Llanstock cold!! She lost her voice yesterday (some peace & quiet for me then). Luckily she was in full voice on Saturday as our local singaround was in the same bar as a rowdy crowd of rugby players & supporters. We took it as a challenge..... All ended nicely with the rugby-ers contributing songs & (mostly) not interrupting others. Hamm was muttering darkly about it all ending a bit soon because of those flaming rugby players, and as a protest she removed the rugby shirt she was wearing. Actually it ended at the normal time, it just seemed short to her. Still, the bright side is that, because some people wimped out & left, we got loads of turns to sing - which pleased Hamm no end..... Kris |
Subject: RE: Llanstock - Hammarite calling... From: GUEST,Patrish Date: 23 Oct 00 - 09:58 AM Hi, Amoret Hope the infection is on the way out. I am opening a firework shop tomorrow and will be painting all the walls bright orange - fancy giving me a hand? I have to carve pumpkins and make some guys and generally tart the place up. Not to worry if you cant make it I will save some good stuff for Llanstock II. Are you on half term just now? Patrish |
Subject: RE: Llanstock - Hammarite calling... From: sian, west wales Date: 23 Oct 00 - 09:39 AM Amoret, I think your name is one of the loveliest I've heard in ages. It reminds me of my favourite liqueur - Amaretto - and Christmas and log fires and stuff. Either that or medieval courts and jousts an lute music. Much nicer than stuff you paint on metal railings to keep 'em from rusting! sian |
Subject: RE: Llanstock - Hammarite calling... From: Llanfair Date: 23 Oct 00 - 03:56 AM It's a different sort of drinking!!! It's the "drink as much as you can in the shortest possible time, then throw up all over the house" I had to deal with when the kids were teenagers! Adult drinkers are a doddle compared to that!!!! I think they call it a learning curve!!!! Cheers, Bron. |
Subject: RE: Llanstock - Hammarite calling... From: Terry K Date: 23 Oct 00 - 01:37 AM Bron, can this be true - "The drinking will pass" - does this mean I will have nothing to look forward to for when I grow up? Cheers, Terry |
Subject: RE: Llanstock - Hammarite calling... From: Liz the Squeak Date: 22 Oct 00 - 06:23 PM Better than tongues in the stud..... LTS |
Subject: RE: Llanstock - Hammarite calling... From: Llanfair Date: 22 Oct 00 - 06:14 PM Don't forget the body piercing, Morty!! The drinking will pass, but holes and tattoos are forever!!!! It's the studs in the tongue I can't cope with!!!! Cheers, Bron. |
Subject: RE: Llanstock - Hammarite calling... From: Morticia Date: 22 Oct 00 - 04:55 PM Except that my offsprung only likes heavy metal and would introduce them toTattoo's...why they are a must-have fashion accessory and Beer Drinking for Fun and Profit ........sigh |
Subject: RE: Llanstock - Hammarite calling... From: Noreen Date: 22 Oct 00 - 04:19 PM Sounds like 'Llanstock- the Second Generation' is a definite possibility with all these talented youngsters. Wouldn't it be good to get them all together? :0) Noreen |
Subject: RE: Llanstock - Hammarite calling... From: Catrin Date: 22 Oct 00 - 04:07 PM Hi Amoret! Greetings from rainy grey Manchester! I agree with everything that's been said on this thread. Keep up the singing. My eldest daughter is 20 and is at Glamorgan Uni doing a degree in performing arts and media studies. It sounds wonderful, she's done producing plays, acting, singing, photography, storytelling (from the oral tradition) and all sorts. It sounds so much fun (I wish I'd thought of it for myself!). You've got a lot to look forward to. Cheers, Catrin P.S. Say 'Hi' to your oldies for me. Cheers, Catrin |
Subject: RE: Llanstock - Hammarite calling... From: Eric the Viking Date: 22 Oct 00 - 11:50 AM Amoret, just keep going the way you are and you'll do well, and of course as a mudcatter, you'll have loads of support. I'll buy your first CD when it comes out. Both my rats aged 12 (Matt) and freja (Odin's daughter aged 8) are into singing, dancing and performing arts. They enjoy it all.Especially big audiences. You'll need to practice microphone technique for next year though as we'll be expecting a full set. Plus a duette with Phoebe. Bye Eric |
Subject: RE: Llanstock - Hammarite calling... From: Liz the Squeak Date: 21 Oct 00 - 06:57 PM So it's a definate for next year then is it? I'd better teach Phoebe a bit of stage ettiquette then, she'll never learn it from her dad!! And if that wasn't enough, we did the final one of our two recordings of Songs of Praise on Thurs, and there was a bodhrain AND a piano accordion there. Grrrr... whatever happened to the brass band we had the previous night..... LTS |
Subject: RE: Llanstock - Hammarite calling... From: Skipjack K8 Date: 21 Oct 00 - 04:24 PM Amoret, I fled to Llanfiar to get away from my ankle biters, who are 12, 10 and 7 (Sam, Jack & Ellie) and found you in the same barrack block! What a shock. An even bigger shock was that you behaved better than the rest of us put together! Good luck with your singing, and keep that gorgeous hair growing to Rapunzel length! It was a delight meeting you, and hope you can come again next year, albeit another foot taller! Skipjack |

Subject: RE: Llanstock - Hammarite calling... From: Morticia Date: 21 Oct 00 - 01:58 PM Gomez and I are both fine thanks......no sign of a cold or anything nasty.....I think we got away with that one but everyone's calling me Typhoid Morty now. |
Subject: RE: Llanstock - Hammarite calling... From: Llanfair Date: 21 Oct 00 - 12:51 PM Hi, Amoret, lovely to talk to you. You keep the singing going, and I'm sure you'll keep the audience with you!! I think it's great that you've started singing already, David (Dalek) didn't really get into it till he was 15, and I was 16 when I got my first guitar and learned the 3 chords I use now!!!!! Talk to you soon, Bron. I've just been up to the geese, they are very well. |
Subject: RE: Llanstock - Hammarite calling... From: Noreen Date: 21 Oct 00 - 12:12 PM Hi Hammarite! Glad to see you following in our footsteps in making good use of your time at the Mudcat. I've just got back from taking my daughter Catherine (who is 8) to a tap dancing exam. She loves singing too, and sang in the school choir at their harvest assembly yesterday. Is the singaround tonight on HearMe? If not, hope we can hear you on HearMe soon. Love Noreen |
