Subject: cd reviews rqd, ref bragg/guthrie From: sledge Date: 23 Oct 00 - 10:26 AM Can anyone supply first hand opinions on the second volume of the previously unrecorded Woody Guthrie material by Billy Bragg and Wilco, entitled Mermaid avenue vol II. I have the first volume and enjoyed it, I have heard the second is even better but have had no chance to listen to it. Lately my cd wishlist has ballooned and I want try and set some sort of priority on what I buy. Cheers Stu |

Subject: RE: cd reviews rqd, ref bragg/guthrie From: GUEST,Fedele Date: 24 Oct 00 - 08:39 AM It's a matter of taste, but I like the first volume best. The second is much more rock-sounding. Many songs aren't sung by Billy but by Wilco. If you know Billy's version of "Against the law" by the cd "Till we outnumber 'em", well that's different from the one here.I suggest you go to a shop and listen to a sample before you buy it. |
